Summon Shadow Demons or Otherworldly leap

Hey gang!

So, for my Duregar warlock, I'm stuck a bit between my 3 Dark Invocation-picks.

1: Dark Foresight.
He lives in the UD. Immunity to Sneak attacks is basicly like bread'n butter. Given the back-stabbin', assassin-happy lot that he usually hangs with xP. Also, +2 AC!

2: Retributive Invisibility.
This one is also a no-brainer. Altho' you have to cast it... 50% concealment, ontop of 50+ ac & 7-fast healing is going to be very tanky.

3: Summon shadow demons/Otherworldly leap.
This is where it gets tricky... On one hand, you got a great utility spell. Basiclly infinite short range teleports. If it's a DM event (Granted they don't happen that often in the UD, BUT STILL), a pvp match (Teleport next to a person and use Vamp feast! ... or away from a person!). And to move around in general.

Image

On the other end you got Summon Shadow Demons. Infinite summons of 1-3 minions you can neatly swarm your enemies with, while you blast away. Even the low chance of becomming "more evil" ain't a loss, because It does not affect the build in the slightest. Also, I am curious if Summon Shadow Demons and Summon Baatezu or The Dead walk can be up at the same time. Anyone knows?

Either way, Id love to hear some insight of what others got about my conflict.

Lots of love!

You could always get the effects of Retributive Invisibility from a wand!

There is truth to this.

However, wands cost gold. And got limited duration!
I'd be spamming scrolls and/or wands like mad no?

How long does a wand of displacement last.
And for that matter, how long does a scroll last?

9 rounds....you want retributive invisibility.

Urck, yea... Between casting Concealment, haste and damage, combat rotation becomes rather unflexible the shorter the buffs last. If you start popping in manuvering, specefic/situation spells, then 9 rounds quickly becomes no time at all.

Wait a moment, 9 rounds? ... 6x9 is almost a minute. Does scrolls really last for that long? or is that wands?

it's wands, specifically. They actually come in 2 varieties, but crafted ones are 9 rounds. Sometimes if you find a wand of displacement it will only have 5 round duration.

There are also of course cloaks that offer displacement (9) 3/day as well as tower shields and a kama (possibly other items, not sure) that offer 1/day displacement.

I am not sure about Shadow Demons, because I have never tried that invocation. But The Dead Walk and Summon Baatezu creatures can be up at the same time, so I guess the baatezu and the demons can be up at the same time too. Only problem would be, how to explain that a devil and a demon are together without trying to fight eachother

Personally as a surface warlock I must say Leap is very nice to have. Problem is in UD there are not many places you can leap to effectively. By effectively I mean on some higher ground, or on top of obstacle that would make whoever chases you to actually have to go around to get you.
Sure leaping from one end of a tunnel to another gives you some pace but in the end (at least before they'll fix the animation that happens after leaping) it will be negligible cause even slowest mobs can catch up quite fast.

On surface it is completely different in some mountain areas, areas like Vault etc.

You can get a wand of dimension door

Its expensive but you really dont need to use it all that often and it comes with 50 uses
