new registry for client extension

Unread post by Nyeleni »

So I have to start the game and the client extension separately, because I copied the game from a hard disk.

Now the client extension nwlauncher tells me this:

I tried to look for REG_SZ HKLM but I guess I have to create it. So how do I do this?

The game is in this folder: E:\\Jocs\Neverwinter Nights 2

Anyone can help? Thanks :).

Create the heirarchy to Neverwinter. Create a DWORD key name Path, value with the path you described to the install location.

All right I had to read first what HKLM stands for.

Something like this?

Well, even with it, the nwlauncher from client extension doesn't recognize where to start it from.

If you are running a 64bit windows version the path is something like:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Obsidian\Neverwinter Nights 2

Oh ok. Wow6432Node? Going to try that.

Also not sure about creating a DWORD Path with the nwn2 install location. DWORDs don't allow some letters.

And somehow cannot create a path either. With the options I have.

I learned if you don't have a path but a standard you have to link it to the .exe. Tried that too. Doesn't work yet.

I remember needing to add entry after installing Win 10.

On 64bit machine the path is about what Theodore01 said.

I had to add a string value called Path with the Data being the correct path. Do you have an extra \ on yours? (E:\Jocs\...)

Addition: On mine the exact registry path is \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Obsidian\NWN 2\Neverwinter

Ah, with string value you do it.

And indeed I had an extra \ there.

Learning everytime something new. Thanks.

Yay, it works.
