Hello,
Please tell me what writing or stating #orclivesmatter means to you, why you do it, and to what reference are you making?

I want to suspend my judgement and get a direct, informed response, so that I can see the use of #orclivesmatter with a clear perspective (at least a mutli-faceted perspective).

I will be happy to explain this.

There is a longstanding belief that Orcs are evil by nature. Even the Monster Manual tells us that they are. They raid and pillage for food, weapons and other supplies. But what is it that drives them to this behavior? Survival. Let's be clear, they're not perfect angels but they were made this way as a result of the racist 'civilized' societies. Humans, Elves, Dwarves... All of them have a deep hatred of Orcs. The latter two are the worst, ones who will actively hunt and eradicate any Orcs in the area. They are never given the opportunity to get land that can be farmed.

What would you do if you were starving and thirsty? How long would it take for you to steal and take food for your very existence? If you knew of a community that prospered greatly but they would attack you on sight, would you then not be tempted to attack so you can get supplies for surviving just another day?

Don't take it from me on if the Orcs were made evil by society itself, let's look at this quote from Unearthed Arcana, written by Gary Gygax himself.

In the beginning all the gods met and drew lots for the parts of the world in which their representative races would dwell. The human gods drew the lot that allowed humans to dwell where they pleased, in any environment. The elven gods drew the green forests, the dwarven deities drew the high mountains, the gnomish gods the rocky, sunlit hills, and the halfling gods picked the lot that gave them the fields and meadows. Then the assembled gods turned to the orcish gods and laughed loud and long. "All the lots are taken!" they said tauntingly. "Where will your people dwell, One-Eye? There is no place left!"
There was silence upon the world then, as Gruumsh One-Eye lifted his great iron spear and stretched it over the world. The shaft blotted the sun over a great part of the lands as he spoke: "No! You Lie! You have rigged the drawing of the lots, hoping to cheat me and my followers. But One-Eye never sleeps. One-Eye sees all. there is a place for orcs to dwell... here!", he bellowed, and his spear pierced the mountains, opening a mighty rift and chasms. How different would the Orcs be if they were not forced by civilized society to live as savages? To have the opportunity to develop art and culture, to grow. Orcs are treated as experience, that much is true, but that's only because of your own bias views. Each Orc you kill, he could have been a medic, an engineer or a farmer. Are they hostile to you because of their race, or because they know you are there to kill them.

Food for thought, because in the end, Orcs are not xp... Their lives matter.
