Dark & Light

Not sure if anyone here plays ARK or did at one time. The same company (ish) that made that has released Dark & Light in early access on steam:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/52918 ... and_Light/
It's fantasy setting and free-form creation with NPC towns lends itself well to a role-play environment if done right. I've decided to host a server for it as of today, if anyone wishes to join in the IP is: 216.244.93.100
Or you can simply search up Baldur's Gate and join that way under unofficial servers.
Still tweaking with settings and such but the server should be currently up pretty much 24/7. I always find I have a lot more fun in these games playing with a smaller group than on the big official servers that are full of trolls and break all your buildings as soon as you log out.

really been wanting to play it since seeing the previews, got the game looking forward to playing... up to 6 hours now of staring at a black screen. Pretty much select a server, 10mins later 'joining server ' black screen then sits there no little dragon flying across the screen nothing ctrl alt del out 6m+ memory being used game not responding. sort of know prob atm, just like ark till they get that ' memory leak' fix can't play currently though some of my other friends having no issue.

I killed my interest for ARK by playing too much in early access before major balance changes happened. It wasn't even gradual balance changes, which would have been much wiser.
So while I do think this game looks very interesting, I'm going to sit back and wait for a while before I try it.

If you have an SSD, install it on there.
I've personally never experienced a crash yet and my performance is fantastic (On epic.), my loading screens are maybe 1 minute ish. I see other people having the same problems as you but myself and my friends have yet to experience any of them. We all have the game installed on an SSD though, otherwise are hardware varies to different degrees.

That was fixed with a patch on like day #2.
Also that video is awful, he's playing with everything on the lowest settings for some reason? I feel like the issues he's experiencing are more with his PC not being up to snuff, and less to do with the actual game.
My Girlfriend plays the game fine on Medium settings with a GTX 950, Core i3 4170, 8gb's Ram and installed on an SSD, her PC is the lowest end out of our group. The big thing seems to be installing it to an SSD, it solves 90% of the issues people complain about. Most modern computers should have an SSD on them at this point. They aren't even expensive anymore.
The "install it on an SSD" thing was big with Ark as well, and basically any big open world game. Even GTA runs way better on an SSD.

Good to know. These reviews are sometimes very onesided.

It's also an "early access" game in beta so it's going to have to go through a few bumps in the road. It's a company that also owns Ark, and that one went to full release not long ago so at least they have a decent pedigree of actually working on/releasing stuff and not just sitting in early access forever (Day Z, looking at you.).

My brother picked up this game. The magic is neat. The melee is completely broken. He was on a 60ms server and hit a sheep a hundred times, it took no damage. Melee is basically unplayable right now. This game needs time to get its legs.
