Change logs clarification

Hey all I was window shopping the change logs for this massive update and came across something I did not understand fully...go figure right?
Non-chests respawn timer is set to 1 hour, and can also be overridden locally
- Non-chests still use only the RIG system to generate loot.
- Non-chests now use the same cleanup system for items left behind as the chests use
What does this mean in dysfunctional veteran speak?

Things like boxes, barrels, bones, etc. will produce loot once per hour, and items left behind on them will be deleted after a set amount of time.

I thought the ones above those addressed that though? This one looked to be totally different than that? Perhaps that whole change log piece about loot changes can be explained then as I understood far less than I thought......And yes I am totally concerned with my loot chances yo! My luck is bad enough as is without less chances now too.

Several modifications were made and you would have to read the whole changelog chronologically, the end result is that bones/barrels should work the same as chests (save the loot type) : one per person per container per 6 hours.
You can loot a pile of bones one time every 6 hours, but even if someone loots it before your eyes you'll still find things, like for chests.

But what about this here?

Message: Changes to loot system.
- Chests are no longer reset with server reset, but based on a persistent respawn timer (default 6 hours).
How are we supposed to know when 6 hours have passed ?
Do we need to set an external alarm clock - to remind us - that we can loot again
Or can you implement such a clock ingame
Please really reconsider reverting that change.

Why would you need to know ? Just try ... and find out., I doubt that change will be reverted.

I hope not. I just hope the Upperdark is fixed now (the bugged chests). But meeting the same looping farming chars there to loot every 15 min., was a bit annoying.

Thanks a lot to whoever brought back the fire beetles. Yay. And cute scorpions are (sorta) back too woohoo.
As for the loot camper thread, well it had to pop up eventually

All those areas you are worried about being ground like coffee will still be ground up. They happen to have the best spawn rate per area you have to walk and are made in circles to be used for that......Instead of being a one way dungeon like say the Kobolds run to Gibberlings which goes to a place instead but has dungeons. That is one of the best XP runs for a level 3-9 player. Otherwise it all becomes loops in a specific dungeon.
As far as LOOT CAMPING goes if the fecking server would make chests drop shite that was worth it the first fecking time less camping would be had. In fact more server loot runs would be done where peeps try and do every dungeon once instead of one dungeon a million times...
Thank you Valefort for the answer. I was concerned that Bosses were made to not respawn in their allotted time as originally. Since there is no infinite loot on corpses I will go back to farming bosses as I did before all day for loot. Really wish the server would just fix the tables and stop punishing the players with junk loot but that is just my own issue so I guess anyone got a tissue?

No one is looking to punish players (unless they do something against the rules of course). Chest loot actually got a little bump up across the board in this update by making 25% of the loot come from the RIG system. But if you want good loot from chests you should always push your CR as the "better" chests does have higher drop chances of the high-end loot. Same goes for the non-chest containers by the way. I would definitely not loot-run the FAI areas with an epic character, unless I'm just looking for a quick stack of vendor trash for some cash.
And as you say, bosses also drop good loot.

It was previously once per reset. Once per 6 hours is less than once per reset. If you'd like us to change it back to once per reset that means you'll be able to loot less overall.

I always run epic areas for that. I did not understand that adding the RIG would make things better. I never see things as good as corpses and boxes have been dropping on any boss lately. Not sure what is happening there. Uber bosses like Frost King, Draco-lich have been dropping pure crap for months where Kro's would drop +3 stat items and it seems many many mithril pieces over the last few months......I found a few myself that are somewhat worthwhile actually. I found insane amounts of +3 Stat items for my builds.
Thank you Dedude for going through the loot system though and trying to fix it a bit for us. I know you are not TRYING to punish us. However it has seemed like the system was a punishment for those of us who always seem to be on the short end of the stick in loot for our builds or selling and or trading. Intended or not it was a pain in the arse.

That is exactly my expierence as well - boss loot runs seem have become utterly worthless lately. And i made much more boss runs in the last couple of months.

All i was saying is, that if the loot clock is asynchronous to the server(up) clock, it's really difficult to tell, if it is time to loot again.
And no one enjoys going all the way to frostkeep, only to see 'you've looted this chest before'.

If you really want to time your loot runs to max efficiency, I will be happy to tell you that a device has been invented that is capable of tracking the passage of time with decent accuracy.
