Alarm spells changes. You can select Mental or audible when you cast the spell, people who have detect magic on will also be able to detect an alarm nearby.

I cast both Alarm and Silent Alarm and have been unable to detect both using Detect Magic. How would I go about this? I tried standing in front of the areas and inside, and appraising my familiar.

And since both spells now have both options (silent and inaudible), will one of them be removed?

Neither will be removed because some people are spontaneous casters, one will just be level 2 and the other level 1 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If anything people will have more leeway to choose where they want to memorize it, can't be too bad, right ?

Regarding detection with detect magic I'll take a look, you shouldn't have to do anything.
