I have a Sorcerer Blaster character idea, and can get 2 Spell-Like abilities from the Arch Mage-only Feat.

What do you recommend?

It would seem a no-brainer to take Mordenkainen's disjunction, but I'm wondering what else? Probably a Bigby's, right? Or maybe Teleport, for an uninterruptable escape button?!?

I always choose spells that i will definitely use so that my character actually gains spell per days.

Premonition is such a spell because i always cast it and also it means i can choose 3 other spells on the very limiting level 8.

Mords is not a good choice since it cant be used to counterspell as an SLA. Shadom Simulacrum is a great pvp spell to have as an SLA.

The default counterspell does, i used it recently. I will have to look about the improved version since i am not home.

That would be much appreciated, M3nt. There are quite a few of us that have been eagerly waiting on utilizing the Counterspelling system for some time, but it would be that the more Epic feats and such are not really working, or not working at all.

Also, if you are really keen on looking up how Counterspelling is working/not working, there is also the Duelward spell, which is supposedly still not functioning as advertised (yet in-game, as you probably know).

Anyway, thanks for the feedback on options for Spell-like abilities. BTW, Shadow Simulacrum is NOT listed on the BGTSCC wiki for spells that can be made into SLAs. Should I update the list with Simulacrum? Can you confirm it is really a choice to be made?

Bigby 9 or Bigby 6 are also reasonable choices for SLAs. You will use them regularly, they cast as if quickened and cannot be interrupted by any means.

Could go with what my wizard stuck with before rebuilding. Objectively the best spell.

Why does a sorcerer need more IGMS though? A sorcerer blaster build should have ASoC, meaning they can already cast IGMS at levels 6, 7 (empowered), 8 (maximised), 9 (quickened). They don't need IGMS as SLA

You want your SLAs to be spells you can't get as a sorcerer, but would like to use regularly.

Avasculate, Shadow Sim, Bigbys 9, Etherealness, Energy Immunity. . .those are all decent choices.

The counterspelling feats ( Improved counterspell and the AMs High Arcane ) work as they are described.

There is an issue with some damaging spells where the damage is no applied if you successfully counterspell a spell with AMs ability. Compiling a list of such spells for the devs to work on. If anyone uses CS and notices it, let us know.

What is that ArchMage Counterspelling Feat?

High Arcana Mastery of Counterspelling allows you to turn the counterspelled spell back upon its original caster (like the PnP Spell Reflection line of abjuration). It is an amazingly powerful ability.

It works on top of Improved counter spelling.

Improved counterspelling allows you to use a spell of the same level, one level higher to counterspell

the AM feat, returns it to the sender as well

For example, if you counterspell ice darts, they are returned to the caster who cast those

It needs to be listed on the Forum and the Wiki. Actually, I remember it was ONCE listed, but listed as disabled. I guess we can put it back now.

Any word on the Duelward spell?
