How to save on server spell count
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall reading somewhere that Nwn2 can only handle a total of 255 spells. I'm not sure if BG is close to this limit yet, but it occurred to me you could keep this count low by combining certain spells into each other that are at the same spell level.
A prime example would be all of the Orb spells. Rather than having nearly ten spells to cover all the elements plus force and sonic, why not condense it down into two spells: Lesser Orb of the Elements, Orb of the Elements. When this spell is cast, the player then chooses the element of the spell via a radial like in summoning. You can even add it to the character spell options so they can select a particular element to always cast.
And if you don't mind condensing across spell levels, you can do the same with the Summon Creature spell line. Just make a Summon Creature spell at level 1 and the creatures' HD scale with the caster level. You can also make the HD increase max out at IV and VI for rangers and bards respectfully (unless no one minds them being able to summon IX creatures and elements).
Of course, while this will definitely reduce the server's spell count and allow for the creation of more custom spells, it also means these spells become very versatile. Being able to summon a level IX creature from a level 1 spell is a bit overpowered. It also hinges on whether or not vanilla spells can be so heavily edited, renamed, or removed to make room for new spells.

The elemental condensation would make Archmage Mastery of Elements useless.

Roll fighter
In all seriousness tho.
There are a lot of spells. And given that most wizards are like generation 1 pokemon trainers, they wanna catch them all. Compress them into book formate, so they can behold the murderous carnage each gorebook-page reveals to them.
I wonder if the server has a counter that measures what spells are picked or used. One siggestion could be to simply remove spells folk dont pick at all.

The hard cap is 255, you can learn spells and remove spells now. Also even in lore mages can have several spell books and they don't carry all of those on them, pick wisely, write scrolls

The remove scroll feature makes the OP a little superfluous in my opinion. You do not need every single spell in your spell book. Don't use Summon Creature I though V any more? Keep a scroll of each in your storage and remove them from your spellbook proper.

Re: How to save on server spell count
No it wouldn't. There are plenty of spells that use only one element, like ice darts. I just mean condensing the spells like orb that have various elemental versions, not giving more elemental options to all spells. The elemental condensation would make Archmage Mastery of Elements useless.
I think there is a misunderstanding on my part. I wasn't talking about spell limits per character. I was talking about the server itself. I was under the impression that the total number of spells that could be made on a server had a hard coded limit. This idea was meant to help avoid hitting that limit if it does exist.

Aaah, well not to my knowledge and I doubt there's such a limit.

I have to google almost every time AoS answers a question. But I learn every time something new.

We're at 2260 "spells" (there are many things that are considered spells by the game), way to go

Re: How to save on server spell count
My bad, then. What I read must have just been about the limit per character.
