Hello.

I am an avid rogue player... I do play other things like paladins and palemasters. But most of my time is in Rogue Role Play and Game Play.

I would like to request a look at the possibility of another way to gain HiPS, this ability is essential in PVE to rogue play at this game.. Its very useful in Role Play and can be amazingly just FUN. It is a high Fun Factor ability, and it should be.

However build options feel pigeon holed.


If you want to play a Thief or some sort of Spy. Your choices for hips are always the same. Either you take Assassin to 9 Plus what ever you try to cram in or you take Shadow Dancer to 3 which has ZERO synergy to your rogue. As has been pointed out Shadow Dancer is -not- a rogue prc, this statement made by devs.

Can we get a third option, open this up a bit so we can make some more interesting builds and Role Play.

Either add Hips to Rogue to be selectable as a Rogue Specialty Ex Feat. or
A new Rogue synergy PRC, a PRC which really only benefits that style.

Wait, you want to make HiPS even easier to attain and create a class with more rogue synergy?

I think she's asking for Hips to be available to pure rogues at later levels. In my personal opinion, if someone wants to go 30 levels of pure rogue, give it to them at level 30.

That makes sense then for pure rogues.

How about rather than giving it to rogues for free, make it an epic feat requiring 25 dexterity, and a significant investment in Hide/Move Silently? Multiclass rogues have a lot of competition for their feat choices so adding another one for pure rogues sounds like a good counter to the extra bonus feats they'll have.

Why would you make such an essential feat difficult for a pure rouge to get? Rewarding people for going pure with rouge is nearly the same as fighter. By going pure rouge, they *are* gimping themselves to a degree (as with fighter, multiclassing is just so much better).

Stuff like wilderness stalker (H. BAB+camo+swift tracking+heal+slightly less sneak dice), assassin (spells+sneak dice+poisons), master of disguise (disguise boons+slightly less sneak dice), guild thief (sneak dice+bonus feats), even 3 bodyguard (a little h.bab, a movement speed bonus, and sneak dice) all make for very effective multi classing choices.

I don't see anything wrong with just flat out giving pure HiPs as a rouge bonus feat, no other strings attached. Again, they'd be gimping themselves from a min-max perspective so its no big deal power-wise and its an essential feat in nwn2 for sneak attackers to have.

My main wish is another route to Hips, just to make something more interesting.... or fun.

Really you got two routes. One is assissan or Sd (no syngery)

What does it hurt to make it a selectable rogue talent at 10? even 13? does someone got some godly broken build that is 10 rogue + stuff.... that some how makes it a top tier build, anyone got a T1? no..? there isn't any.

So can we get a third avenue for Hips. it just simply be more fun.

I totally agree with Mallore. Hips is bread and butter to sneaks. Without it they are kind of gimpy. Please offer third route to hips - there is nothing wrong with doing it at lvl 10. But while we are at it let's tac on that true seeing can see hips.

Throw it in at Rogue 20. Most folks who dip significant levels of rogue only do so for bonus feats to unlock Epic Dodge & Epic Precision and general rogue PRC synergies (eg. Rg 16/IB 5/ Assn 9). Few rogue builds incorporating more than 1 other class or PRC go past level 19 rogue. Throw it in at at 20 and make em rogues keep on going with their class

This seems pretty reasonable, and still means rogues who don't have an RP reason to be assassins or shadowdancers can at least use HiPS through the epic levelling slog.

Tales of Amn server did let rogues pick up hips on level 10 or 13 etc if they had the Stealthy feat.

Or we could give it to rogue for free at level 10 or so, but deactivate it when he is no longer pure. Not sure if it's possible, but I trust Valefort can do that

That way you help a pure rogue, without helping a lot of other builds become even stronger.

The thing is, Rogue types are already at the bottom of the food chain, so I wouldn't be against this. Suggestion to give it at Rogue 20 seems like a solid proposition, IMO.

If not, I suggest the OP to try Phantom. Phantom 25/5 SD has a lot of synergy and it is fun to play.
