Disappearing bodies : official ruling?

Unread post by NegInfinity »

I think it would be great to have an official ruling regarding what happens when somebody carries a body and the body disappears because the other person decided to respawn.

I saw a potentially interesting situation retconned today because of this.

So I think it would be nice to have some sort of in-game explanation. I don't have anything specific in mind, though. The best I could think of "the body crumbles to dust".

In those kinds of situations, I just kind of vaguely say that we managed to get the character help, and leave it at that. Not sure what else can be done, really. :?

I recommend giving people a PM if you are carrying their body. It seems only polite if you are going to grab somebody firmly by the butt and shoulders and carry them around that you give them a sending.

I hate when the body dissapears from my inventory before I have a chance to animate it.

Anyway. In situation I described there was a group of players who wanted to hand over the body to Radiant Heart, so it looks like it could've been an interesting interaction, if the body haven't poofed by the door.

How about sending the corpse a notification automatically? "Your body has been picked up".

I think the official ruling would've been a good idea anyway.

The dead player retconned the events leading up to it and respawned of his own volition. It wasn't due to his body disappearing.

This is not a bad idea, but in the meanwhile (there are many priorities being worked on after all) sending a tell is a good idea in order to avoid the player logging off or re-spawning.

Ah, when computers take over the tasks of the nervous system. "Hello Human, I would like to inform you that your body has been 'picked up'."
