Could you add melee throwing axes?

Currently if you take Weapon Focus, etc, feats on Throwing Axe, those feats are of no use in melee. You cannot hack, and swing with your throwing axe - even though you could in PnP.
It could help make dedicated Brutal Throw builds more common, etc. Kind of like how 'light flails' were added to let people two-weapon fight with flails.
I don't mind if you do the same for Darts and Shuriken.

Can I turn my bow into a staff then too?

You can go for the Order of the Bow Initiate PRC and make use of this one:
Frontline Archer
Type of Feat: General
Prerequisites: Dexterity 15, Weapon Focus (longbow), Lightning Reflexes
Specifics: You may use your Longbow to do a Melee Trip attack. If successful, you follow up on the trip attempt with a melee Longbow attack, which does damage equal to a Club of the same size. If the bow is magical, it is treated as a magic weapon for overcoming Damage Reduction. You gain a +4 bonus on your trip attempt as if you have Improved Knockdown. (but not another +4 if you actually have it). Using this feat starts the cooldown on Knockdown.
Use: Selected

That sounds like it could work too. But how exactly would it work? Throwing Axe feats are removed, Stormlord requires Handaxe? Etc?

Yes it would. Can you imagine a Brutal Throw Two-Weapon throwing Ranger/Stormlord?

There is a single player module (Last of the Daanan or something like that) where the creator made a Tomahawk that could be used as a melee handaxe, but could also be thrown. Not sure how well it works or how it works, but could be worth looking in to if this is something that is desired.

Throwing axes are considered ranged weapons and the weapon focus will do what a weapon focus does for every ranged weapon.
For hacking one can equip hand axes.
Brutal throw builds are more than fine.

Throwing axes, or 'axe, throwing' are both melee and ranged weapons in D&D, but in NWN2, those are just throwing weapons.
The funny thing is, in NWN2, light hammers, or 'hammer, light' can also be thrown in D&D, but in NWN2 it is just a melee weapon.

Which feats will work with them? The archery ones ( manyshot and co )? The melee ones (CE/ICE Northlander Hewing and co)? None? Both?

In NWN2 it is ranged feats with throwing axes and melee feats for light hammers.
But in D&D you can use melee feats in melee, and ranged feats when you go ranged. Although a thrower character would have to get 'Quick Draw' and Weapon Finesse/Brutal Throw to make the most out of throwing axes or light hammers. Two-weapon fighting would help too.
I mean, Human Ranger that makes use of thrown weapons is just plain fun. At level one you get Quick Draw and Brutal Throw, at level two you get Two-Weapon Fighting, and you can chuck axes until the enemy gets near enough or you are down to your last pair and then you just switch to melee.
There is even a ranged Power Attack feat called 'Power Throw' that requires Power Attack and Brutal Throw. So the funny thing is, you could use Power Throw with throwing axes as you throw them, but not Power Attack because throwing axes are light weapons in melee.
It is not that complicated on paper, but I can see why Bugsidian only implemented one side of these two weapons.
Edit: Well, at least everyone in NWN2 gets Quick Throw by default.

I'm generally in favour of more ranged options to play around with (e.g. combat feats for ranged fighting similar to those for melee fighting). Until such get implemented, though, one could simply create the desired effect by switching between Throwing axes and a similar looking handaxe (as my toon Marianne does). Melee and ranged still require different feats to be advanced, but this is not all that counterintuitive, given the vast differences between ranged and melee fighting styles. If the same feats were to advance booth melee and ranged fighting, that would mean quite a power boost and require major changes in the available shop items as well (the available axes are very good - to compensate for their downsides compared to bows, etc.).

There are already great weapons available for other weapon types. Which is why i asked for adding melee throwing axes, they could be called 'Axe, Throwing' and just have the same stats as those throwable versions and prices adjusted to the level of other melee weapon. You would have to switch between the two, but it would make more sense to make a Fighter that throws axes.
