questions about magic

I don't know if this is the correct forum to ask but... moderators feel free to move this thread where it belongs
I have a level 4 rogue 1 wizard and I got 2 questions
1. how do I learn new spells? I have scrolls that my school doesn't prohibit but I can't scribe them to my spellbook, it's not custom spells , it's identify and burning hands that I bought off a trader in BG... any help would be great here
2. I can't cast mage armor anymore.. it worked when I first multiclassed, but now every time I try I get a message saying the spell has no power like the weave is blocked to me... can someone help with that or explain it ?
thank you so much!

Have a read of my wizard's guide for new players in my signature below. All these questions, and more, are explained there at length.

You're welcome!

this is great thanks!, but it also only answer question 1 so I know how to add spells to my spellbook now but I still fail to cast simple spells because the weave denies me :(

Im playing a level 20 wizard atm, and I haven't seen this happen before.

Are you failing to cast spells from a scroll, or memorized spells?

Does your alignment match up to your deity pretty closely? (Idk if this would matter for arcane spells, but I think it can affect divine spells)

It's not spell failure in the traditional sense, is it? Like you're not wearing light/medium armor and using a shield by chance? (Silly question, I know. I'm trying :P)

From my guide:
Tsidkenu wrote:Spell School Selection

Firstly, you want to decide very early on if you're going to specialise in a particular spell school. Doing so will net you the obvious advantage over your generalist peers in that you can memorise a total of nine bonus spells, one for each spell tier except for cantrips. The drawback, unfortunately, is that you must pick a spell school to eschew as you focus your studies more and more. Fortunately you can choose any spell school you wish, and you are not locked into any pre-ordained choices unlike other places in the realms

((After taking your 1st wizard level, choose your specialist spell school as usual. After the creation/levelling process, use the Choose Opposition Spell School feat by adding it to your quickbar and selecting it, and then your choice of school in the dialogue box. You may only do this once and it will overwrite the vanilla NWN2 forced choices.

Note that spells of your prohibited school can still be written into a spellbook, but if you try to cast them the magic will fizzle and the spell will fail. Lesson? Don't waste your spellbook space with unusable magic!))
