Wow guys, stay on topic.

He asked for a movie and the one I watched most recently was a scare flick called the "Taking of Deborah Logan" which was about killing an "evil possessing spirit" rather than a more traditional "ghost". I'd recommend if you like horror flicks.

Glad I am not alone in this. Good to know someone else has the need to kill a ghost. I used rock salt packed in shotgun shells and I used bible paper for the wadding. Also make sure to douse the remains with holy water.

I learned all this by watching the Tv series Supernatural.

"supernatural" ways to hurt/ kill a ghost:
Rock salt or iron will make them dissipate for a time, but you kill them you have to find their remains and burn them (all of them).

Other option is to determine what is preventing their eternal rest and address whatever it is, allowing them to pass in to the after life.

One way is with a spell that locks them into another plane of existence. So if you are looking for a way to RP killing a ghost, send it to the shadow plane or Gehenna or something where it will become corporeal and can be hit with weapons

If you are tying to kill a ghost in real life, you will need an energy weapon like a proton pack.

Here are direction on how to build one:

Who ya gonna call?

Irl every religion I know is about banishment of a spirit(otherworldly) or the forced resolution to an afterlife (of a ghost or remnant soul). All movies are derived from those that I can think of. The only destruction of a soul I know of is from a dnd book, I think the Vile Deeds that will actually destroy the soul of a person. Could be wrong about the book but I'm sure someone knows it. No movies in which souls can be destroyed ultimately however. Only forced back to where they 'should' go.
