Angel Summoners, please, learn to use a leash
If you have those archons as your summons, try to keep them on short leash. It is starting to get annoying that you steal experience from others just by running by...

I think those nasty planars must be treated like undead (KOS). It would be fair considering amount of my undead summons killed for no reason by so called "good" guys.

The reason would be that they're undead. But check the rules, summons can be killed without an RP out regardless of the type. Which I guess is kind of weird in some situations.
"They're just furry and misunderstood."
"Is that why you are killing them?"
"Yes. They will atone in death."
"Ah. That will help them understand."

A little aggressive with that original post huh?
Maybe a little understanding is in order.
I can tell you from personal experience that even ordering them to Follow or Stand Ground that they will still attack.
It isn't the fault of the summoners, the planars do what they want when they want.

When you farm at Xvarts and some PCs come, without any words they kill your summons and just start farming instead of you — it just shows the lack of manners. Just try to kill their angel and you will see them threatening you in pm.Pimple wrote:The reason would be that they're undead. "Stand Ground" attacks anything that runs to them.Hawke wrote:A little aggressive with that original post huh?

"Follow me" will force them to attack something else if the defender behavior toggle is on.

Try it. Stand Ground away from an enemy, the planar will chase it down. Follow is supposed to prevent it from attacking.

Troll Claw Fjord, giant sized creatures with Knockdown, sometimes Improved Knockdown. Thus even if you have a high strength score, a multitude of those trolls will start to spam that feat and you will be knocked down, you will spend time on the ground, and when you are finally able to get back up and ever so close to the killing blow... A horde of Sword Archons appears and steals the kill. It is just 10-30 points of experience, but it has been happening every single day... Usually by the exact same lot of players.Hawke wrote:A little aggressive with that original post huh?

Not to mention that any attempt at interaction with the summoner is basically pointless because they were just running by and are off the screen before you have even had the chance to think of a thing to say. Well, not that I really feel like role-playing with said characters since this has been goin on for days now...
So yes, perhaps there is a hint of aggressiveness here. But I would still lean towards the good old sensation of being annoyed.
Back when I played my wisdom ranger more regularly, there was some way to make my companion only attack my current target. No idea what it was...

Works in the way I described when I tried.Hawke wrote:Try it. Stand Ground away from an enemy, the planar will chase it down. Follow is supposed to prevent it from attacking.

Use a banishment scroll. Wouldn't that free them from their mindless servitude?
Some people say if you can't do something right, don't do it at all...I say maybe you just need more practice...?

Well, I just tested it AoS, and I'm sorry, but it does not work that way with Follow.
Follow (with defend toggle off) is supposed to have them not attack anything and just strictly follow. What actually happens is, if the caster gets provoked, (doesn't even have to hit the caster) and the caster does not attack, it will trigger attacks of opportunity and begin the combat sequence.

Now is it wrong that people are coming in and tearing things up with their summons while bowling on through an area? Yes. It has been stated as greifing if it is done over and over again (just can't find it right now on the boards).
It isn't just "Angels" It is the same problem that always has been there. If this is what is happening and they aren't receptive to education of the rules, then take a screeny or video and PM the DM team.
Server needs to recognize common courtesy and etiquette. With my summoner, I will even cast invisibility and put them on follow. But sometimes... they just go nuts on their own, as the video shows.
This is not me complaining on the behavior of summons, it's explaining that it doesn't work as well as prescribed and we have to just understand and deal with the issues.
What I can say is that respect all players in the game, they are trying to get by and gain in power like we all are, and if your summons kills a mob that someone is working on, and you had it on a "leash", apologize and both players need to let it go.

Re: Angel Summoners, please, learn to use a leash
I assumed you meant that it'd run off on it's own tangent, which it doesn't, when follow-me is on. You have to move the attacker within melee range of the summon which would prompt it to swing, as seen in the video.
The AI needs to be toggled off.

Well in that example, it was just me.
I have had them jump out like 20 feet and rush targets that are attacking other players.
While they were on follow, and invisible. It was a pretty awkward moment, and I was embarrassed when it did happen.
AI is squirrelly at best of times when it comes to this stuff.

Re: Angel Summoners, please, learn to use a leash
I completely agree with the crazy AI, this build is entirely dependent on moving programmed images, summons, and Simus for it to work in decent enough orchestration, but the Follow and AI toggle has been the best route for me on non-aggression interaction.
