Split Mudd's in to Standard and Greater +

Unread post by chad878262 »

Mudd's auction is constantly full, often with items that are really what many would call 'vendor trash' that should just be sold to a vendor for the ~1250-1400 gold. It is frustrating when trying to list your Full Plate +3 or Dodge Boots +3 when you see pages upon pages of boots with +1 AC and 5% some kinda immunity or what have you. Many items sit on auction for the 3-4 days before being put back on the PC inventory who listed them.

Would it be too resource heavy to split Mudd's in to two separate auctions, one that is exactly as it is currently and a 2nd one that has a higher minimum gold value, where items that will be listed for ~10,000 gold + can be listed? If the number of items is a limitation you could make each auction allow for up to 30 items per category so the total items listed is the same, but it would at least allow more room for some of the higher valued items while still supporting those who want to sell something for 2-5,000 for lower level PCs with less funds to support themselves. With higher player populations it would make sense to allow for more trading through Mudd's of higher end items, but as it stands currently higher end items often end up just clogging inventory (at least for me) because the armor and sometimes the weapons tabs have the full 60 items.

Another option might be to reduce the wands/gems tab to a max of ~20 items since that tab rarely gets more than 2-3 pages deep, and increase armor to 90, while increasing weapons to 70 with the extra 40 slots opened up. However, I figure the issue with that is players will just have to scroll through more pages of junk that pretty much no one wants.

Some changes to the IG consignment store would be very desirable.

+1, Chad always have best suggestion.

The idea of selling item is that it will help another to facilitate their journey, either good RP item or something that is better than what they already have while getting gold.

Separating the section can assist both new players to find decent cheaper items, while cater to old players like Chad to sell his +3 AC boot without waiting for few days.

Yep I agree. People need to stop selling crap. Junk on the auction. IT IS FOR ITEMS PEOPLE ACTUALLY WANT TO BUY!!!!

But Calodan, for years now you have kept buying the cheap junk I have put out in the consignment store, how can you say you do not want to buy it!

On a more serious tone, were I not currently grinding out a loot run to level up one of my characters, I would be buying those boots with just +1 dodge on my new characters. I do not recall Maltz selling dodge boots, and thus the only dodge boots available in Baldur's gate can be found in the Mask Store or the Wide and in both they cost 10k+ due to their extra bonuses. Thus if I can get +1 dodge boots for 1-2k, I feel like I have made a bargain.

As for seperating the consignment store into two, I do not like that idea. I would have to check two consingment stores when in the past it was just one. Not to mention that item's default gold value does not automatically measure its worth. For example a full plate with 14 spell resistance will have price tag of tens of thousands, but it is no better than vendor trash for the large part. It is also the reason why you cannot put Spell Resistance items into the consingment store in the first place.

And anyhow, if you are selling a 'higher end item' through consingment store, you can always buy few of the cheaper items to free up some slots and still make your profit.
