Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Last night I decided to do some silly RP and followed around my friend's low level alt as a Warlock shape shifted into a Hellhound. I figured that running around in public as a hellhound with my real name would be a bad plan, so I used the disguise toggle to change my name to "Puppy."

This morning I logged on and low and behold....my name with the toggle turned OFF is now Puppy...DM Spartacus changed it back to "Bodoc" but warned me that next time I relog in, it might revert back to Puppy. This is then...exactly what happened.

This is especially annoying because it might make it hard for people to PM me and in order to not be "Puppy" anymore I have to disguise my name so it shows up as Bodoc.

Is there a way to do a permanent fix on this without an RCR? Just hit level 25 and going back to 20 or less is noooooot going to be an option >.<

Out of curiousity, have you tried renaming yourself back to your proper name via disguise and relogging?

Asking a DM to take your DMFI tool (and destroying it) and then re-naming you, with you logging out and then back in - should do the trick.

Yeah I've tried that. Diguised my name as Bodoc, logged out, logged back in. In the Character Vault menu, it shows up as the correct name but I become Puppy again the moment I actually load into the server.

I had a DM rename me, logged back out, came back and Puppy still stuck...

The underlined is very important. Ask a DM to do that.

Ah! I misunderstood your previous comment. Should I be logged off after the rename or during the rename?

Logged in during the re-name. But you must log out once it is done for the name to stick, then you can log-in again.

Have officially done the DMFI destroying trick and no success

I'm at loss then! But you seem to have written this thread under 'solved problems'. Maybe a DM can answer if you PM the group directly as well. You can't be the first and last with this problem.


Actually, it might be the player widget they need to take and destroy.... I may be confusing the two.

can someone clarify how the dmfi was 'destroyed' to make sure that was consistent.
