Ideal build to pair with this

So it seems I've hit the lottery and haven't exactly decided whether or not I want to sell the item. It's thrown a wrench in my plans for my next PC and now perhaps I will play a melee character.

Any ideas?

This calls for a bard or something. Maybe a charisma or constitution warlock.

... Or just about any non-evasion melee character. Pure(-ish) paladin, maybe?

Before summer, the number of ideal builds - mostly melee - would be infinite. Today it is not the case anymore. Even for bards or warlocks, having to get one more feat to cast with medium armors ( battle caster ) brings it on par with light armors. Unfortunately, even though this is a very unique armor, it has lost most of its value.

EDIT: Underlined the main part and added the "ideal" since some miss it and skip right to the end.

That's one mans opinion and has nothing to do with my original question.

That's one huge jackpot ! Given the item's name you're also forced to play a witty gold dwarf Kaxanar (cleric of Haela Brightaxe), something like an epic rage EDM Barb 22 / cleric 3 / battlerager 5, spend feats on rage and charge feats and you'll be golden.

Alternatively I'd wait a bit for a new paladin kit and go for a paladin 20/AK 10.

EDM melee Lock21/FB5/BG4 that sounds pretty fun.

That sounds interesting. A build that allows me to solo bosses would be nice as well.

This is more about the player than the build or the equipment. M3nt can solo the balor with a Bard or a Paladin that has no equipment besides a +4 Longsword. Meanwhile I still get fugued with a fully equipped Bard against the Frost Giant King or the Yuan-Ti Queen when I screw up or don't pay close enough attention.

There are dozens of builds that can solo the majority of the server, including many 'pure' class 30 builds. In fact I would argue all of the full casters plus Bard, Ranger, Paladin, Warlock and Barbarian could all go full 30 in the base class and solo most bosses. However, player skill is a major factor in what a build can and cannot do.

My advice is to think about what type of build you want to play and do that. Mithral Full Plate +4 works great for a sub CL30 Gish, Paladin build, Barbarian build, Fighter build, and lots of others. What are you interested in trying out?

The problem is I had no intention of building a melee build until I found the plate. So I guess I should give it a bit of thought now. Barbarian seems entertaining enough - perhaps the dwarf build that Valefort recommended? However - Barbarians have evasion which it seems I should avoid.

Evasion won't work in medium armor, but you will still be able to grab expose weakness. Plus you could theoretically carry around a light armor for when you're facing an enemy that you want evasion for.

I picked Barbarian only to stay in Haela's theme. Overall it's an epic item giving you some leeway in equipment by freeing the gloves/bracers slot which can typically be used for a +4 DEX item and 12 base DEX instead of +4 AC bracers. Then it all comes down to what kind of item set you can gather to make the most of it.

Yeah, basically that suit of armor opens up the possibilities to have just 12 dexterity to make most out of it. The elven blacksmith sells bracers that gives +4 dexterity but require UMD to be used.

Thus it migth make more sense to go for 13 dexterity and make use of some random +3 dexterity item. This so if you are going for any PRC that requires the Dodge feat.

But personally, I guess I would put that armor on some kind of Barbarian 20/Divine Champion 10 and get +5 to all saves and other things if the Divine Champion bonus feats are taken during epic levels.

But anyhow, there are many non-spellcasting and spellcasting builds that can make use of that armor.

Or if it is all very confusing, I can buy it off from you for... lets say... 500 gold pieces. :P
