Death in the nexus

So this has happened about 3-4 times on one character of mine. Where I log into the nexus and die getting sent straight to the fugue from the ooc room. Myrkul does ask for XP if I try to respawn and it does send the character back to the correct spawn point. As you can imagine this is a very frustrating bug to have. And no I didn't log out dead, I log out with full HP and rest before a server reset in an area that doesn't spawn mobs. To save my location and XP.

Do you have several items with CON bonuses ?

Yeah 3 but only the +3 con ring I have should apply right? The other two are +2.

You have too many +CON items, remove the other two and the problem will stop.

There is some login script that removes and equips items to prevent some glitches etc, thus each of your constitution items momentarily decrease your hitpoints and is enough to bring your character down to zero.

I actually asked the DMs to remove the +CON properties from the items I did not want to be granting the bonus as it caused me to spawn into the nexus with -7 HP on one occasion. In my case I had +3 CON boots and a +1 CON belt (which also has +3 DEX). Asked the DMs to get rid of the +1 CON on the belt and the problem ceased to be. For me it did not matter if my belt lost the property as I was only ever going to detriment from having it there, and I thought it was a better solution than trying to remember I have to remove my belt every time before I log off

The problem is there is nothing else to replace those items I have with, the other two items provide AC and extra HP in the form of +10 hp. Regardless its a bug that should be fixed, equipping and reequipping an item with a lower bonus shouldn't change anything on your character sheet. For example if you have +4 enhancement gloves to STR having a +1 str on boots or a ring shouldn't do anything. Likewise having a +4 CON item equipping or reequipping a +1 CON item shouldn't do anything to your HP because you already have an enhancement bonus to CON that is greater.

Belt of the Stout? +2 CON and +10 HP? Cloak or the Stout? +2 Deflection with +2 CON? Boots of Hardiness +2 Dodge with +2 CON?

Basically since you already have +3 con from one item, I would just drop the item that grants the extra 10 points of HP. It sucks to lose 10 points of HP, but it might be enough to keep your character alive on login.

Or just ask a DM to remove the extra constitution properties. It will devalue the items a bit, but from the sound of things you probably wouldn't get more than few thousand gold coins out of them when you get your hands on superior replacements.

Unfortunately, the scripts are there for constitution items to prevent exploits. The best way to get a solution for your issue is to kindly ask a DM to remove the + CON properties from the item/s you don't want them on. As I said before, I've asked this in the past and the DM at the time was only happy to help.

I understand what you are saying. But broken features should be fixed, should people really be loosing gear or asking to take up DM's time just because of the fix for an exploit created another bug? This should be fixed, two sets of INT gear does not change a wizards spells per day, dex your AC, str your carry weight etc. It is only CON that has a potentially negative effect of sucking XP out of your character simply by logging in. DM's are not on at all hours of the day, sometimes you cant get a DM to help you, if that happens to someone they are either stuck in the fugue waiting for a DM to show up or they take the XP hit for something they really shouldn't.

Is there a reason why it cant be fixed to work properly?

Even if it gets fixed, it might take a rather long while. Hence, the suggestions to reconsider your current equipment. Or at least just put the two extra constitution items on a hot bar, and take it to a habit of removing them before logging out.

Otherwise, you will likely just get more deaths.

I took a look and the script should never put you under 1 HP, can you take a screenshot of your combat log next time it happens ?

I did some constitution item testing.

My character has even base constitution, I have a +2 constitution item equipped, and then I put on a +3 constitution item. I was damaged by my character's current HD, but the damage was automatically healed. When I removed the +3 constitution item, or the +2 item, I was damaged every single time based on my current HD and this damage did not heal.

Now, I have seen upon login that my character has his Spell Resistance reapplied for something like 10-20 times, and if you are losing your HD worth of hitpoint every single time something is removed, it is no wonder if a character ends up in Fugue.

Point is the script checks if it puts you at 0 HP, if yes then it leaves you at 1 HP so I'm confused as to how he might have died.

Make the pc invulnerable for X seconds on entering the nexus? (Except if it is flagged as dead of course)

That would solve the nexus issue but not if you log back after though.
