Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

I am an old-timey player that has taken some long breaks and I just beat OG BG(EE) again and need to take a break before I start up Seige of Dragonspear(I put in like...90-100 hours into it again lol), now I know there have been quite a few additions into areas, classes, PrC and such. came back several months ago after getting help with all the files(being as the update servers are dead and gone) but was honestly irritated away by some overstepping DM. :/

But I really need to know if a few of the things I dreamed came about! Mayhaps they finally released the source code and we know got all the freedom!

1. Have Blackguards/Assassins been given real legit spellbooks(I am rather dense to the coding but that doesn't seem all that difficult)?

2. Has poison been worked to function more like PnP? (You know duration:forever, but vanishes after 1 successful hit)

3. Is Tongues actually in the game and working? I knew this was something discussed way way back and wondered if it was ever actually put in. (Honestly I could care less if the speaking part works...only understanding over PCs discussions haha)

4. True Strike been reworked as well to work like PnP? (If I recall it is just +20 to your next attack for the next 1 hour or some long duration)

5. Hoping that "Fallen Paladin" has been put in to give those bonuses to Blackguard. (I know I was on another server that had these, wasn't quite like PnP, but it certainly was in there. Though again I have no clue how difficult this might actually be though...)

6. Err, directions to Darkhold please?

7. Sorry I missed Luna's retirement party haha. Kind of shocked to see that 6 months ago!

Currently they still just have the 3-4 spells per level cast through a feat. It's actually a bit more difficult than you're thinking, but we actually do have a fix for it with Rasael's spell replacement system. The problem is that this system is not the most user friendly as in you can't hotbar your spells. There is talk of implementing his system as an option so that Blackguards, Assassins or other casters that want to use it are able to, while others that want the more user friendly vanilla version can stick to it. Long term I know the big desire/hope of all is that Rasael or one of the other Dev's comes up with a user friendly solution that allows us to fully replace the vanilla spell system with one that allows BG and Assassin to have their proper spellbook and would also allow us to implement new classes with their own proper spellbooks. We're just not there yet.

I don't think there is any way to fix this, but a dev could answer for sure. The current system works pretty well though, for the most part.

Doesn't work like PnP, but has been reworked to last for ~9 seconds instead of 6, thus giving you a full round of +20 AB. It's quite popular with some players now.

Nope, and again I'm not sure this is possible, but maybe Valefort, AoS, dedude or Rasael could give more detail.

Luna was actually AWOL for about a long time before that post... Luckily Maecius and our wonderful Area builders and Developers have been doing an amazing job of not only keeping us up and running, but ushering in a renaissance of new content and support for the server. More recently Endelyon has joined Maecius as an additional Admin and the updates have been consistent and mostly universally well received.


No, unfortunately the source code has not been released and it likely will not be released, but the things that Aspect of Sorrow, Valefort, dedude, Nachti, Rasael and many others have been able to accomplish even without that code has kept our population quite high. Before summer ended and people went back to school/university/what-have-you we were regular hitting the 96 player cap and even now we are hitting 50+ players at peak times every single day.

OEI has graciously complied with some requests I've made and have an open channel with them still that'll help the NWN2 community going forward.

As for the spell casting for BG and ASN, I thought it was easier for all the PrC classes that seem to have legit casting. Or maybe I am just confusing the fact they are adding Caster levels to base hard-coded classes that already have standard casting.

I just wonder on the reworking of Poison and True Strike namely for the fact I am a and not a very combat oriented one(as in I didn't get tons of feats and or stats for AB and such lol) and the way that spell and poison works...are rather useless for RP PvP use. Which is honestly the only reason I would use either. I can't quite use point to blow my cover right before I stab a dude and if I use it before sneaking up on it is expired by then. Lol, same with True Strike haha, I'd have to sneak up right beside them, cast it to get the use out of it, but that would spoil the surprise and lose the bonuses. Haha. I know it is a rather small demand and less likely to get a lot of use out of it for many, but hey...I can dream!

As for Luna, I see. I haven't been back in years probably, but got the urge at the start of the year and only saw his profile from an old topic he started and he wasn't Admin or anything, so could of been months(or longer) since that happened. He was always nice and good to chat with when I was real active. Good to see Mercius is still running haha, guess you can leave BG for a while, but BG never leaves you. As for the others....um, opps and sorry never meant you but let's hope I am not too much a old timey hassle as I try to wrest my way back in :0

Really...I would of thought that they would of just forgotten about old NwN2(cause...damn how old is this game now :0) That is great though about the request and opening up the code.

Oh and another thing

8. Are players still restricted on using WASD to direct their PC, I know way way way back in the say for server reasons you had to use mouse click to move everywhere(something about packet overflow if I recall), perhaps there have been upgrades to server hardware that can let players use WSAD

With the True Strike duration set at 9 seconds. I am not sure of it, but you should be able to cast it on yourself, hit HiPS, and attack on the next round. You should have enough duration left to get the +20 on your first flurry of attacks, the ones that deal sneak attack dice.

Fallen Paladin is there really a class of that if you fall from grace you souldt be able to cast prayers you last you faith to you god Paladinisa holy not evil so it will be a wrong if tehre is one that give spell it is the same for a priest no faith not prayers .

I suppose I could...but I don't really like that lol, really breaks RP and the feel for me haha. I would of hoped to poison my blade, Cast True Strike and then stalk and jump them hoping to catch them in a Death Attack flurry and drop them. Sure...never have done this once in my course of ever playing, but still would be nice if it could work like that. Haha

It isn't a class, you are a Fallen Paladin, you lose all your shit but considering that you are a BG you pretty much get it all back, you just get some RP flavor bonuses(least to me) and such for having been a holy knight only to fall. Have all your divine powers(for the most part) you just get them from an evil god instead of a good one.

Fallen Paladins

Blackguards who have levels in the paladin class (that is to say, are now ex-paladins) gain extra abilities the more levels of paladin they have.

A fallen paladin who becomes a blackguard gains all of the following abilities that apply, according to the number of paladin levels the character has.

1-2
Smite good 1/day. (This is in addition to the ability granted to all blackguards at 2nd level.

3-4
Lay on hands. Once per day, the blackguard can use this supernatural ability to cure himself or his fiendish servant of damage equal to his Charisma bonus × his level.

5-6
Sneak attack damage increased by +1d6. Smite good 2/day.

7-8
Fiendish summoning. Once per day, the blackguard can use a summon monster I spell to call forth an evil creature. For this spell, the caster level is double the blackguard’s class level.

The character level of the character does not change. With the loss of paladin levels, the character no longer gains as many extra abilities for being a fallen paladin.

It isn't a class, you are a Fallen Paladin, you lose all your (#2) but considering that you are a BG you pretty much get it all back, you just get some RP flavor bonuses(least to me) and such for having been a holy knight only to fall. Have all your divine powers(for the most part) you just get them from an evil god instead of a good one.

It will not hold ,just be couse you get seduce from the dark path of unbelivers if you shall get those power you wish to you have to do many dark deeds for evil god will replace you god faith with evil faith it is more then a RP then a you have to ask the dms if they wish to changeyoure the prc from Paladin to BG if you have a been a good boy to make a epic back ground story and i bet they shall change you back back to Paladin after you have been redeeming from all youre dark deads who shall save you from that

You are missing it again...this isn't anything to do with asking the DMs to make a personal epic quest and have them change my classes(I am already 30 and happy with my build with what is available to us). For all intent and purposes BG is a Paladin, just an evil one and thus gets all those divine bonuses just from an evil source not a good one. (Divine does not equate "good")

Since BG is a PrC it is like to stand that during your paladinness and fall you would of gained the Requirements for being a BG(which are not that intensive aside from doing something super evil, which is actually just being peaceful contact with an evil outsider). You keep the all the martial training of a paladin, BaB and feats(I would think divine feats then just get their power from evil now) and become Fallen Paladin(which is a fighter with no Bonus Feats...so trash) and continue your growth as a PC with Blackgaurd levels. To which you just mostly gain your "paladin" and holy(now unholy) powers back.

This is more to make Blackguards more appealing as an RP class cause...well not sure if it is an issue anymore but for a long long time, many just used 3 level of BG for the CHA to Saves and went Favored Soul...not really RPing or explaining how they came to make such a pact to become a BG. Which just made me mad lol

It gets a little frustrating when you seem to take this as some motivation on me for personal character gain and exploitation when it is just an effort to hope that it moves more to PnP and make Blackguards more appealing beyond just 3 level for CHA to Saves.

Frankly it doesn't matter if it makes sense to you cause it is in DM guide for 3.0/3.5 and is something that is well established. Same that the coding restricts or makes it difficult and those that have done it used weird work arounds to try and give it to their player base.

Look at Scyllua Darkhope exactly what I am trying to make an option with Blackguard here

I tried the new spelbook system with some old QC test module... Could it be possible to use the new spellbook with the old quickcast? Since you can drag spells from the old quickcast window or is the new quick cast necessary for the new spellbook to work?
