Probably depends if it is a RP server or not. RP Server I bet, otherwise I doubt it.

Ultimately the tags that float above our characters are in essence OOC as they aren't 'seen' IC. Just because that is the case does not mean they should contain OOC information or be silly.

When picking a character name it should not be the same as a character from books, TV series, films or comics. Names that are ever so slightly changed but are still obvious enough to refer to an existing character should not be used. No famous people dead or alive, no easily recognizable names from real life. No famous D&D characters such as Drizzt Do'Urden or Elminster, no gods, period.

Modern terminology should not be used in character names. Medical doctors do not exist in Forgotten Realms as they do today so having a character who is Burt Jones MD and claiming to be a doctor would not be acceptable.

- No modern, profanity or celebrity names, any Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) setting names (except celebrity/god) are acceptable. Your character also has to have a name (on other words, no "Nameless", "No name" characters).
- Real life "earth" is not acceptable background. Using the multiple different DnD settings is allowed for background.
- Playing children of god or other famous entities is not allowed.

I've heard rumors that other servers exist, but I can't be bothered.

"Yes. They will atone in death."
"Ah. That will help them understand."

I played on a few german servers before this here. In case that is still interesting here, too:

Names were handled very strictly there.

Noone minded if a player took first name of one famous novel character, last name of another.

But famous names completely taken from books or films were not so welcome. A Leto Atreides (Dune) for example had to be rebuilt with another name very quickly. Similar as the Haven server describes it in Pimple's post.
