Questions about Bards/Stormsingers and Other stuff

1) Song count tops at lvl 20? I'm level 21, 8 Brd/10 SS/3 DC, and I only have 20 song counts? Was this nerfed?

2) Is storm of vengeance really worth 4 songs? I feel like it is a strong spell but it's easy to dodge it and whatnot. Instead of 4 songs, it should be like 2 songs + 2 minute cooldown (I spammed SOV a couple of times and my computer did not like it, thus the cooldown makes sense? Sorry this is more of a suggestion).

3) On the spell list for bards, there's a spell called "Aating bolt". Is that supposedly resonating bolt? Or a new kind of bolt?

4) Does lingering song affect storm of vengeance? If not, shouldn't it be affected? I mean it is a song after all...

1) Do you have the extra song feat? Either as a feat you took, or from some item?

2) The correct way to use Storm of Vengeance is gather a mob of monsters, let them surround you, and then hit them with the Storm. The more monsters you have gathered, the more damage this spell will do. It is very nice against trolls.

3) What is the level of that spell?

4) No idea, but your character should have the Lingering Song feat. Now, Storm of Vengeance is supposed to last for 60 seconds, 10 rounds. Thus, you could actually test this yourself, take out your smart phone, cast the song and start a timer. If the effect lasts for 1 minute and 30 seconds, or 15 rounds, then Lingering Song affects it.

1) I don't understand what you mean. I'm quoting wiki bgtscc here...

"You can sing a song to help allies and hinder foes. As you progress in level and Performance skill, new songs become available and older songs become more powerful (Bard level/day)."

In my case, I have 21 levels but I only got 20 songs?

2) I do know how to use it. Just curious really if it's worth 4 songs. I mean it would be nice to cap it with a cooldown so that people won't be spamming this thing and lag my wooden comp

4) I timed it. Exactly 60 seconds. I checked with wiki and storm of vengeance does last only 60 seconds. Now my argument is that, lingering song should affect it since it is a song. Thoughts?

1. There is a feat called Extra Songs, Extra Music, Extra Bard Songs, whatever it is called, it gives you additional uses of bard songs. Hence, do you have some item that grants that feat? Did you spent a feat on it? Because if you do, then that thing might be the cause of your lack of bard songs per day.

3. If that spell description is as follows: 'The bolt of sonic energy deals 1d4 points of sonic damage per caster level (maximum 18d4) to each creature within its area.' Then it is most likely the resonating bolt, especially if you have taken the Resonating Bolt spell before. You should report it on the spell bugs section.

4. You could try, but Storm of Vengeance is one the strongest offensive spells there is in this grindy environment. Thus it would be far too easy for the QC to just say that the extra 5 rounds would be too over powered.

1) I don't have extra song feat. Not even artist. Not sure why my song count is sticker at 20.

2) Yeah. I think I'm just gonna upgrade my rig lol.

4) Hmm. I just thought that since it is a song, it should be normally be affected by lingering song. Not to mention it already eats up 4 songs.

At 10th level, a stormsinger with 18 or more ranks in Perform can use bardic music to cause a storm of vengeance, as the spell of the same name.....

So it's still a storm (with a duration of 60 seconds) (http://nwn2.wikia.com/wiki/Storm_of_Vengeance) and not a song.
And a very powerful one. (Even more, if you are a CHA bard.)

1. Alright, I did some testing in the lastest BGTSCC test module. A single class bard continued to acquire more songs past 20. A level 23 bard had 23 songs per day. Thus I got one per level of bard, with or without the Extra Music feat. However, then I proceeded to test your build and I only got 20 songs per day. Then I tested your build without the Dissonant Chord levels and I still could not get past 20 songs per day. Therefore, I think there might be something wrong with how the bard songs are calculated with the bard PRCs. You should bring this up on the bug report forum.

One other thing to look at is whether you selected bard progression feat on your first dissonant chord level. It gives other options for some reason but you need to select the bard progression feat.

Bard songs are a known issue, there's unfortunately no fix for it.

There's a feat for each number of songs from 1 to 20 and then Obsidian took another road and instead of giving feats to your character did some black magic that is completely impossible to access from nwscript side to give the last 10 songs to bards.

Well I'm just gonna throw it out there...is it possible for me to get RCR without exp penalty going back to lvl 20? Those 10 missing bard songs is starting to hurt my high-cha build without any damaging skills aside from songs and spells.

Right now, I'm just managing to minimize my song usage by using Song of Requiem in each battle, but it really limits my storm of vengeance and other stormsinger song uses. Or perhaps, we can give all bards that are lvl 20+ an automatic free extra song feat to somehow regain 4/10 songs that are missing? I'm just really trying to save my build here since I'M SO DARN CLOSE TO LVL 30
