Like, you can change your base hair and use your helmet to wear hats and such again?

It isn't the App Changer that is causing the hair to clip through headwear.

It is the hairstyles themselves. It would be nice if the head gear would just "delete" all the excess hair and leave it at that, but it doesn't.

It could also be how the non standard hair was created, making it not friendly to helmets and hats.
If the text is this color, I am on duty, everything else is just my humble opinion.

My observations show that helmets can work 3 ways:
  1. Do not change hair (e.g.: Tiaras)
  2. Change hair to ponytail/cropped/braidtail, visible from beneath (e.g.: hats)
  3. Hide hair completely. (e.g.: Helmets, hoods)
Hair can work 4 ways as well, when affected by the 2nd type of helmet
  1. If bald, remain bald
  2. If properly set, cropped hair shows up as cropped hair under a hat. However, most custom hairs are not set properly, and they default to this state as well.
  3. If properly set, straight long hair shows up as a ponytail tucked under a hat. Most custom hairs are not set properly, so they default to B.
  4. If properly set, curly/braided long hair shows up as a long braid under a hat. Most custom hairs are not set properly, so they default to B.

As a consequence, I think the trick to the clipping issues with helmet hairs would be to figure out how to force the 3rd type of helmet type for every helmet hair. Doing so would completely hide the base hair, regardless of what it is.

Unfortunately, based on what the art team told me when I broached this observation to them, it would appear these settings of whether something is [(1,2,3) or (A,B,C,D)] is contained in the code that describes the 3d model. Since 3d artists are lacking, nobody knows how to do anything about it.

Also notice the frequency of "if properly set" for (A,B,C,D). Many custom hair artists eschewed the responsibility to properly set things, causing long haired people wearing hats to appear as millitary (wo)men. SOME custom hairs (such as the very long hime cut) properly adhere to the 4 different types and are set properly, but unfortunately they're the exception, not the norm.

It relies on the CLR engine to work, which I'm still needing to tinker with on production.

Once that's in, there's a backlog of work Ive done thatll start to function. (dynamic housing, dm persistency, mobile game client, etc)

As far as i have seen, some of the hairstyle still don't cover completely. Is there anything new about this?

Doesnt work for all faces, and it may require an RCR but going bald at creation does offer pretty much any hairstyle ingame due to the appearance changer kit.

I bet the kit is a Thayan invention at heart!

But it works. ;)

Plus being bald doesn't let you have a ponytail when wearing a hat/helm, either!
