The same as a druid17. On that level the last level the companion levels is 15 ( i cant remember what the exact level is ) the next levelup for the companion is 18. Even though you have 18 levels, Thau and hie dont give animal progression while natural bonds adds 3 level of progression.

If your next level is a druid you will get another level on the animal companion. If on the next level you take hierophant and not the animal companion feat, the animal companion will not pregress. If you do take the animal companion feat then not only the animal companion will level up, but your build will have full animal progression.

it does ment. i wanted to make sure all my numbers are adding up. it is at 11 from a D17 equivalency. if i knew the progression rate, i could math it up on my own. but i do not know it.

For what I know the maximun companion's hd is 23 when master has 33d (epic animal companion), 21hd at 30-32d, 19hd at 27-29d, 17hd at 24-26d and so on

ok so my friend's D14/Th3/Hie6 w/ Natural Bond and Epic Animal and hie pet progression. has a pet of 16 HD.

that should be a level equivalency of D26 and then a 17 HD pet.

any explanation of this?

If it's a worg, at some point it gains 1 level less.

It think it is the same for all companions after level 20. For example my bear ends on an even number as well. I will double check with the rest of animal companions.
