worst prc ever

is the divine seeker. hands down, it is completely useless. trap sense... ..wow, for a prc that usually comes from rogue!

every time i consider it, i just cannot justify anything about it.

so you get the second chance feat at level 4, with.... oooh 3d6 + cha modifier. a whole 3 - 18 (avg 10.5 you might, with a lucky roll, get... ..18+ CHA, awesome for all those charismatic monks and rogues)

and of course the big bonus.... ...5 hide/ms... ... for a number of minutes equal to his cha modifier.

sooo... why not make the comeback like the spirit shamans. give some good hp. and make the hide/ms a feat that is permanent?

even then... ...this class still sucks!

give it disable device and open lock skill feats... ..and still, not that great.

it says divine seeker, but nothing feels divine about it. Also, divine seeker of lathander being given sacred stealth?

maybe limit it to gods with travel, trade, moon, trickery, darkness and other darker traits... ...and then let it pick one of the cleric domain feats... ..and the ability to cast/choose those spells if it is a fs or cleric or spirit shaman...

or..

3/5 spell progression, with the first one at 3 levels of divine seeker.

I wish we had this class instead: Shadowbane Stalker

http://nwn2db.com/library/classes/?133

Level 10 PRC, very similar, but actually has attractive qualities. Although I would change the search skill bonus to a sense motive bonus.
Kaedrin Class

Shadowbane Stalker

(PRESTIGE CLASS: This class is not available at character creation and must be unlocked by meeting special requirements, listed below. This class has 10 levels.)

Those they name as heretics or servants of evil call them zealots. Those they protect from darkness call them saviors and defenders of the truth. Whatever their label, shadowbane stalkers rank as some of the most feared individuals wherever they go.

Requirements:

Alignment: Any good.

Divine Casting: Able to cast 2nd level divine spells.

Skills: Lore 8, Search 4, Diplomacy 4.

Special: 1d6 of Sneak Attack (or the equivalent ability).

Class Features:

- Hit Die: d8

- Base Attack Bonus: Medium.

- High Saves: Ref, Will.

- Weapon Proficiencies: None.

- Armor Proficiencies: None.

- Skill Points: 6 + Int modifier.

- Class Skills: Appraise, Concentration, Craft Armor, Craft Weapon, Craft Trap, Diplomacy, Disable Device, Heal, Hide, Intimidate, Listen, Lore, Move Silently, Open Lock, Search, Set Trap, Sleight of Hand, Spellcraft, Spot, Tumble, and Use Magic Device.

Class Abilities:

Level 1: Divine spellcasting progression, Sacred Stealth, Turn Undead

Level 2: Discover Subterfuge +2

Level 3: Sneak Attack +1d6

Level 4: Bonus Feat: Divine Shield

Level 5: Discover Subterfuge +4

Level 6: Sneak Attack +2d6

Level 7: Sacred Stealth +8

Level 8: Discover Subterfuge +6

Level 9: Sneak Attack +3d6

Level 10: Bonus Feat: Sacred Vengeance

- Bonus Feats: At 4th level the shadowbane stalker is granted Divine Shield. At 10th level the shadowbane stalker is granted Sacred Vengeance.

- Spellcasting: A shadowbane stalker continues training in divine spellcasting as well as learning. At each level gained in the shadowbane stalker class except for 4th and 9th, she gains new spells per day (and spells known) as if she had gained a level in a divine spellcasting class she belonged to before adding the prestige class level. If she had more than one divine spellcasting class before becoming a shadowbane stalker, she must decide which class to progress in.

- Turn Undead: At 1st level the shadowbane stalker is granted Turn Undead. Shadowbane stalker levels count as cleric levels for the purpose of turning undead.

- Sacred Stealth: A shadowbane stalker can channel some of her divine power to become stealthier. She expends one use of Turn Undead and gains a +4 sacred bonus to Hide and Move Silently checks for a number of minutes equal to her Charisma bonus. At 7th level, the bonus increases to +8.

- Discover Subterfuge: A shadowbane stalker trains diligently to detect subterfuge and the misdirection of others. At 2nd level and higher, she gains a +2 competence bonus on Search checks. This bonus increases to +4 at 5th level and +6 at 8th level.

I copy pasted the stats - not sure why the link isn't working but it did so for me.

Love the Divine Seeker class as it is honestly.

For build reasons give it high BAB, or offer a third domain choice as per the Divine Agent class, if anything must be done.

Glad someone else find the concept of the class appealing, though myself I rarely start them off with a rogue background unless there are a rogue deity behind it.
Bards and clerics can have good use of the class, depending on where you are going with the toon.

Can we have Divine Agent please?
The commune spell already sent us over the bridge concerning divine contacts.

/M

Edit: Worst prc ever?
Fist of the Forest, nothing but a dip munchkin class offering huge benefits for the 3 levels it cost us.

high BaB would not make sense though, it really isnt a warrior/fighter type.

fist of the forest? that constitution turning to ac? thats pretty rad.

why do you love divine seeker? i cant find a reason to ever use it. maybe paired up with ghost faced killer or blackguard. but what appeal does it have?

myabe its because i just dont do bard builds.

Why love it?
The class perks with Divine Seeker are closely tied to what the class is about conceptwise, it does not offer any huge benefits in itself but it opens up other paths.
Much in similarity to the Eldritch Knight.

In essence the contrary to what Fist of the Forest are and does.
There is nothing in the concept really having you focus roleplay on any forestthing or the wilds whatsoever, but its a great dip to benefit CON-based builds mechanically.
Including bards, warlocks, wizards and rogues. Fist of the Forest...

If Fist of the Forest can have the Heal skill, why not give Divine Seeker high BAB?
It reflects a divine morale boost or something. ;)

I have it solely for rp reasons. I would never recommend anyone take it for any reason except that. It is a horrible, bitterly useless class.

Rogue has no requirements and better defensive abilities inside 5 levels. Phantom is another good choice but with an alignment requirement and Trapfinding at 8 instead. Shadowthief has lower requirements, better synergy with sneaks or all types, feat selection, full sneak attack progression and a unique class feature.

All other classes are better except the old Harper.

Fist of the Forest is mechanically better, more useful in a variety of builds and has a strong role play angle in the same manner as Divine Seeker.

I had Divine Seeker.

It's awesome if a DM plays along with your P&P abilities. But that's the only good thing about it.

P&P abiltiies make finding campaign components very easy.
