It's crucial, therefore, this Enhanced Edition be compatible with all the mods made for Neverwinter Nights before. Thankfully it will be, and the community has been involved, suggesting their own updates and improvements.

If they were to do NWN2 enhanced... with multiplayer capability, that might be great for the community.

I don't see why they wouldn't do MP on NwN2:EE if they do enhance that one. I mean, would seem like a step back and a slap if they did that for NwN but not NwN2. We can only hope they do NwN2. Maybe we can get them to add in legit Asn/BG Spellbooks haha

That is what I am saying. Build everything from the ground up and clean out all the garbage code. Get classes like Thaumaturge, Assassin, Bladesinger, etc and make them a "natural" part of the game.
Even take from the big open worlds and the independent developers and bring them on board to help make this game less of a pain for those who want to develop it further. I am excited.

From what I understand, it's not a graphical update. It's going to be the same old crappy graphics.

The stuff that people have been making on Neverwinter Vault is phenomenal:
https://neverwintervault.org/
Project Q, Lord of Worms, Sen's Seasonal Workshop, ThriceSix, the ongoing Custom Content Challenges... The list of NWN1 stuff goes on and on.
Coupled with the NWNX2 functionality, there's been huge improvements.
Edit:
Here's an example

The released version will use the same textures, but with new filters. However they are including the ability to use new textures going forward; they won't be hard-coded as at present.
I saw the Twitch TV presentation; unfortunately the same thing is unlikely to happen to NWN2 in the foreseeable, due to it being an Obsidian game.
The downsides that I can see are:
1. Sticking to the 3.0 ruleset, which had a number of issues IMO
2. Stuck with the limitations of the original game - only 3 classes per character, the henchman metric, etc.
Although possibly that might change, as they are consulting with fans about what happens.

That is part of the draw, I mean if you wanted newer graphics play NwN2 or Tales of the Sword Coast and such.

Ugh...Obsidian...

That is what NwN2 uses, lol. 3.0 is teh best. I can't honestly tell much difference in 3.0 and 3.5 lol

3 class max is fine, considering that Prestige classes go to 30 instead of 10, which I vehemently hated for NwN2...

There are actually quite a few key rule differences between 3.0 and 3.5 that make for a better game. That said at least some, if not most of these issues can be resolved by the PW if they so chose, making the ruleset for NWN vs. NWN2 largely irrelevant.

I'm actually very wary of NWN2 coming out in an Enhanced version. Mostly because software studios and publishers need to make a big profit these days—its a cut-throat world of game making out there!—and if NWN2 was "updated," I am concerned with how that would disturb what the NWN2 PW community has done in the recent years to GREATLY improve on the game, without a monetary structure.

3.5 was the fix for 3.0. It's no coincidence that Pathfinder, for instance, is based on the 3.5 rule set. Possibly most of 3.0's issues can be fixed by PWs, but 'twould be better if they didn't have to be.
And, of course, there was the horribly overpowered Devastating Critical in NWN.

I'm struggling with your reasoning here.
1. The developers on NWN EE are working with the community, to ensure, for instance, compatibility with NWNX;
2. They're fixing some of the stuff that is very difficult for the community to do; and
3. The price of $19.99 is hardly extortionate, especially as it includes the expansions and three packs.
The NWN community seems pretty positive about it, although I'm sure there a re a few Grinches around...
