Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Ive never been to avernus, but one of my merchants has been starting to consider it, and it is great fun, considering how much gold he needs to bring, knowing he may only be able to purchase two or three items, trying to find a willing guide, etc etc. as of now he only has a hazy idea of the challenges getting there.

so why are the rogue like uber goodies in the blushing mermaid? It would be really neat if they too were somewhere deadly. Preferrably somewhere with deadly traps, epic locks, and lots of high level,well stealthed backstabbers and spotters. Somewhere a rogue-like character might aspire to reach one day.

for the northlander epic shop, (currently in the palace district), why not actually set him out north? and make it kind of a barbarian challenge? For this one i kind of imagine an epic barbarian arena, one on one, trial by battle kind of thing, before being allowed to view the goods.

i mean for people who dont twink, it could set up some good rp and adventuring. for people who do, well, oh well.

and...

have merchants in lower level areas, who have a books for sale that list the various goods that can be found in these epic shops,and books that give a hazy idea of the challenges presented to reach their shops, explaing why the goods are not readily available. That way a character doesn't have to "hear rumors" to start the rp. It might also give characters something to strive for and talk about.

finally, any way the auction could be split to underdark and surface? I am sure it has been discussed before. that way, trade missions could be a fun hook, to get underdark goodies.

The best rogue gear is in Avernus though.. Unless you do not specifically mean sneak gear.

I think it's quite ridiculous to have Avernus in game and ruins much of the consistency of the setting. I really hope this fix this soon, put it some place more accessible and realistic for the server. Elminster barely survived and the Simbul had to rescue him but we have PCs going on the regular.

Yeah his weakness was being in Avernus.

Avernus is also the only area where permanent death makes sense as a risk. It's not death per say, but identity death is worse than normal death.

me too, honestly. especially since you go through the gates of hell for +4 weapons, and it destroys the whole "you are actually only half your levels" canard. when my char was talking with someone who had been there, it was just too fantastic to even sound realistic.

I couldn't agree more.

There's currently discussion underway about possibly removing Avernus. The shop itself would not be removed (though it may be moved/broken up into smaller shops).

Nothing is set in stone just yet, but I think most people do agree that being able to go to the depths of the Nine Hells just to do some shopping is a little bit of a stretch when it comes to "suspension of disbelief."

Hope it is at least replaced with another CR 29/30 area...realistic or not there are few end-game area's that require a party (unless your just passing through ethereal )

So in the forest of wyrms there is this huge looking gate place....maybe there would be great for the END ALL DUNGEON on the server? Connect to both sides. UD, UpD and Surface. Give us a DEMOGORGON boss yeah? Oh and OWLBEARS. When the hell we getting owlbears?
