retiring, orc ascension and valhalla

ive suggested before when retiring characters, having them take the stead of lore appropriate but unnamed npcs. basically, the merchant at the fai, for example, would eventually be replaced by a dwarf merchant, (silver palm feat required). The player would write the dialogue script, no rcr, and lose all his best gear. This would be a way to change the landscape without fundamentally changing history. Retired bards could replace unnamed bards in inns, and write out long winded scripts and tales and songs of their adventures. Adventurers likewise could perhaps be found drowning their sorrows at bars, talking of the good ol days, etc, etc. I really think this would bring life to the server. keep the personality of the character without having to say good bye forever. Of course this would be a dm rewards for retiring and playing well, and adding to the life of the server while not retired. I personally would prefer this as a reward over goodies or xp. also would be a good way to integrate the bad guy areas, by some players "retiring" as captains of the fort, bosses, or whatever where evil and chaotic neutral only could tread. a paladin quits adventuring to become the tireless defender of fort goodie-goodie, always being raided by evil adventurers and thieves.
next would be evil characters, becoming bosses, when "retired". this would be also dm rewarded, except a few... ..basically in this instance i am envisioning the orc chieftan. players who make an orc barbarian would be able to take a feat at level 21: prince* of the sharptooth clan. This token would have a permadeath token attached, that could only be triggered when fighting another orc with the feat. When the conflict arised, the defeated would be killed (no rcr), and the winner would retire, as the new orc chieftan. Basically it would mean the new orc chieftan would have its apperance and name changed, and both orc characters would no longer play the server. Yes, this would encourage orc powerbuilds especially for PvP, but i dont see the harm in that. Also, before level 21 the orc princes* could build up the rivalry as they get closer and closer to the battle. i guess it would mean a new race, possibly limited to fighter and barbarian class only, no twinking/muling, and KOS and absolutely prohibited from any cities except soubar. meh, this one gets more half-baked the more i think about it.
finally, valhalla. valhalla (ive read here years ago there is a lore equivelant), and only warriors who worshipped the requisite gods could qualify, and would have to take a starting feat with no benefits. valhalla would be reserved for level 30 characters. once valhalla is enterd, the character could never even start in the nexus, and would only be allowed to carry what is on their backs and in their hands. (maybe with a seconday weapon) it would have four transition points, and basically be a field of bones and skulls, with some burning and destroyed buildings and ramparts. maybe even some npcs/enemies in the rampart towers shooting arrows. and corpses and weapon racks laying around with usables that are removed from inventory upon death or victory. Death would just mean a loss, victory would just mean a win. after a win, you would go through one of the transition points, and the map would refresh with a new, random challenger. the hook being the challenger would be the manifestation of another player who had gone to valhalla. every battle would start with a message of the top 3 pc valhalla players, and the top three ai controlled enemies. this would all be done via NPC. No DMs required, and no IC rules and laws.
so... these are three options for basically three styles of players.
the first one encourages RP, and gives many players a kind of end goal in sight. achieving this end goal drives their storyline, and changes BGTSCC permanently. it is dm heavy, but more than likely strived for by heavy rp types who interact with dms often anyway. I think this kind of small change (pcs replacing generic npcs) would encourage more people to role play, and play their roles.
the second one fosters more roleplay, encourages story driven evil, and PvP. It also changes the "landscape" temporarily, from update to update. it is more for the individualistc players who dont rp much, dont really have a mission, are kind of just wandering around and levelling up. It could give them hooks and ideas, as they try to replace an old boss character.
the last one surely does not encourage rp, and is for the tireless grinders and powerbuilders; the people who never RP anyway. It would pull powerful items out of the economy, (helping slow power creep), but still in a small way change the landscape of the server... sort of... in valhalla.
