Disguise?

I noticed a lot of commands, specifically in "subrace" don't work or aren't recognized. The other thing I notice is even with decent disguise skill I can't visibly look any different and sometimes it makes me a squad midget or something when I choose human, and doesnt do anything when I type in 'dwarf' ect. Very confusing.

I took Master of Disguise so I could play with this skill but it appears to not quite work yet?

I also took Master of Disguise and am curious as to what functionality exists. In my case when activating a disguise my character model steadily gets larger. Is there a way to control this change for example?

Yeah mine becomes shorter and wider but nothing else changes. Doesn't seem to matter what subrace/gender I choose the model never really changes much.

It was largely implemented unfinished and I don't think there's been any work on it since 2016 when it was put in. The disguise system as a whole that is. Basically it's only good for changing your name at the moment, outside of DM events.

Cool. I've been using the appearance changer to make costumes for my master of disguise in the mean-time. Hopefully it gets fleshed out a bit, as without it it makes Master of Disguise a pretty worthless class outside of DM events that might occasionally cater to disguise.

My hope is that the Disguise Self & Disguise Other spells will have similar functionality to Polymorph Self/Shapechange, in that they would bring up a UI of races & genders from which to actually illusion one's physical appearance, similar to how Sigil manages its alternate humanoid appearances for dragon/succubus/doppelganger PCs.

At the moment it is very hard to pull off effective disguises, with or without the spell functioning this way, although certainly not impossible.

That would be very cool, Tsid. Even if there was a male/female set for each race, with stock appearance, it would be a "true" disguise (oh...the hilarity of elves passing off as dwarves!).

Nah, but really Disguise Self is a great spell for RP. As long as folks are not silly about it.

Well, there is this:

True seeing does not help the viewer see through mundane disguises.

So the question left is: how will the Disguise system support the difference between magical Disguise á la illusion-based-polymorph, or mundane disguise that uses the Disguise Skill in tandem with outfits (such as armor/hoods/make-up/masks/etc.).

I wonder it it is possible to place Faces (appearance types found at creation) on a Helmet object, so that a Master of Disguise could "swap faces" and utilize their Skills?!? Now THAT would be cool as hell.

It's "à la illusion". And otherwise refer to the wiki : there are two checks, one to pierce magical disguises and then a second one to pierce mundane disguises.

But can one just choose magic or just mundane? And focus all Skills and gear towards one type?

But I guess what Players hope more is more actual appearance change possibilities.
