viewtopic.php?f=10&t=62983 This article lays down the points as to why I would feel a level 10 Cap is important.
I think a Sever Reset and Level 10 Cap would Fix the sever. Yes you might lose some old players but you will make the Future more comfortable for people like for that PW Roleplay.
Maecius- "It's especially important that we make new players feel welcome here. New players are a large part of what keeps us going when older players burn out, take breaks, or otherwise move on for a while (and sometimes never return). If we fail to continually renew ourselves as a server with new and returning players, we'll eventually dwindle away."-Maecius

and making a thread, where in the op, you link to another of your ops, that says the same thing, is not cool.

Did you not just Finnish saying you were done playing tho? And I agree with your points on the other topic part. Anyways what's so bad a bout a level 10 cap? Realistically it's Baldurs Gate it should be level 5 cap.NeOmega wrote:nope.Thayvian wrote:viewtopic.php?f=10&t=62983 This article lays down the points as to why I would feel a level 10 Cap is important.

Don't agree. This is not PnP. Will never be PnP. The level caps you love so much are dependent on a more interactive world where one can work a problem from many angles other than point click kill like a video game. This is a video game and thusly video game mechanics are needed in order to make the game enjoyable for longer periods of time besides the social RP aspect that comes with a online server.
How do you propose to get feats as they are now? Class combinations that we have now? Right now the immense amount of levels and feats allows for a very wide range of PC customization that is also important to the enjoyment of most of those who play a game like this.
I know for a fact that level 20 and level 15 proposed caps were shot down by many. There is also the need to rebalance the entire server if this is done. Re-work classes. This is a huge undertaking that would take longer than this game may survive. There is a immense push to keep games like this thriving but nothing is forever. So if one wishes to enjoy a level capped server. There are ones like that already in existence.
If you feel they are no fun because of lack of people then you can see what that type of level cap does for a server on NWN2.....The thriving servers have 20+ levels. Hell I wish we had 40 because I love options and more classes for flavor as well, but wishing it to be true or not I realize the undertaking and there are so many other things worthy of the devs time other than this. There really is.
Examples of things more important in IMO.
More classes, epic maps, item crafting system, personal guild bounty and event support via spawnable NPCs only triggered by guild token holders that allow a DM to set up things and not be present thereby allowing them to cover more RP for more players, player housing, neutral to good aligned maps for evils to have fun in, places to steal stuff from for thief RP in the towns and various populated places, Ways to introduce personal music compilations IG for bards using real bands music , or even personally written as their RP IG, professions and skills attached and many others I am sure.
The point I am making is while reducing the levels you can finally wrap you mind around old books that really were meant as GUIDELINES more than a strict code to be followed to the T. It really does not truly benefit RP in anyway other than making a persons OCD on the lore fit.
For many who are playing this game this is their introduction into the D&D lore. I know it was for me with NWN1. So the real draw was the amount of levels. Not being 100 and also being enough to be really fun due to the immense amount of classes. Just my opinion. It is often not liked and I am good with that.

Re: Level 10 Cap Economy rework.
It wont happen. There is too much content on the server (Classes, PRCs, Feats, Mobs/Maps, Item level) that rely on the level cap of 30. There are low level cap servers out there. If you want to play low level cap why not play on them?

Re: Level 10 Cap Economy rework.
There won’t be any level caps regarding mechanics. It’s easier to make a new server

I can be considered as the "newer player" here and I must say I cannot agree with a level 10 cap. The server has so much content to offer in higher levels which makes it fun. And also, it's not cool to start a new thread to just promote your views.

Wait, is the server currently broken? I was under the impression it was one of the longest running and most populous NWN2 servers ever. Must be my mistake (and the mistake of hundreds of others ...)Thayvian wrote:I think a Sever Reset and Level 10 Cap would Fix the sever.

Re: Level 10 Cap Economy rework.
Thank you for your suggestion, but there will be neither a vault wipe nor a level 10 level cap. To implement either would require rebuilding the server from the ground up, and, or, would alienate the majority of our players. This suggestion can be closed.
