RP Player of the month awards. (concept)
A straight forward concept. That fosters Roleplaying and encourages community development.
Players nominate the person they feel represents the epitome of Roleplay excellence.
The Dms than take note and award that player with a significant bonus to XP for their efforts.(if the dms don't mind that is)
A person can not win this award twice in one year. Even if they are nominated.
I do not mind keeping track of this list and forwarding it to DM BOO whom I find personally very helpful. And hopefully would agree to this.
At the end of the month we take the list and tally up the nominations, if no clear winner is selected such as (everyone only gets one nomination.) It just carries over to the next month.
Obviously an honor system that could be exploited but hopefully people will not abuse this.
I would like to be the first to Nominate the Elf character Sirion. Whom I have met in game and have seen nothing but excellent RP from this character.
Sirion well done. And I suppose congratulations on being the first nomination (providing this is well received)

Its a bit unfair really as some of us don't play when many of the DMs are on. Its better for them to do spot rewards for stuff as they see it.

sorry.. I mean no offense in any way shape or form. Just a simple clarification. The players nominate the other players not the Dms.

Eh. I've seen this on another server and it ended up as a cliquish popularity thing and a LOT of ooc bad feelings. Often it comes to those who have tons of play time (especially in peak hours), which isn't fair to those who are on the more remote times or who have limited play time. There is a thread you can give your appreciation for RP on here already.

I don't see that as an issue however. As I've seen many people online in peak and off hours. Again no offense intended.taintedseraphim wrote:Eh. And how else will the people in off hours get XP for RP? Also the fact that you can only win once a year as stated above seems to negate popularity being an issue.
I'm sure that the feels of other players that might complain about this if someone else gets nominated. Would find something else to feel hurt over regardless if this was implemented or not.

No. And I’ve played and won on servers that had this type of system.
Thank people after RPing with them, especially if the interaction was enjoyable. Post on the appreciation thread. We don’t need a popularity contest or more ways to lob favoritism accusations.

I don't see that is a popularity contest if people respect the honor system? Nominations are vote based?TarnishedSoul wrote:No. And I’ve played and won on servers that had this type of system.

Why are we actively trying to protect the feelings of other people that get upset if they don't win.
Is that not simply ridiculous? That person being upset at not winning would not be acting very mature.
Surely the server is mature enough to handle this without it going to crap.

I can say my previous experience with RPOTM on another server (probably the same one as TarnishedSoul) was a drama-laden contest that did more to foster bitter feelings toward exceptional players then reward exceptionalism.
Appreciation thread is the best place to put notations for great RP you come across.

RPOTM is notoriously a bad server where people set you to hostile for ooc comments and call it rp. Surely this server is more mature. Which I have seen both first hand. And I can tell you this server is better by far.Kaybrie wrote:I can say my previous experience with RPOTM on another server (probably the same one as TarnishedSoul) was a drama-laden contest that did more to foster bitter feelings toward exceptional players then reward exceptionalism.

Re: RP Player of the month awards. (concept)
imho, rper of the month wouldnt want an award... ..just doin' my job ma'am, and all that.
i just see the whole xp as reward thing, for anything, as anti-thetical to the server. furthermore, rper of the month getting substantial xp would basically be an ooc reward.
its a trope, but good rp is a reward unto itself. what some consider good rp, i consider eye tearingly inanity, and visa-versa. if you had a good time, put it in the appreciation thread.

RPOTM isn't a server sweety, it's an acronym for Roleplayer of the Month.

^This. I was awarded as one of the RP faves there and declined it, because it, to me, is more headache, jealousy inspiring and yes, the favoritism accusations will start just flying out afterwards. Just a simple "Thanks for the fun" on the rp appreciation thread is good enough.TarnishedSoul wrote:No. And I’ve played and won on servers that had this type of system.
