Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Just curious as to what is the lowest BAB you folks would suggest as a warrior class and still be effective late game. Currently working on a build that will be more flavor/rp based than pure pve, but I don't want to handicap myself so bad that I am utterly useless in a fight.

Unless you mean AB, then the question becomes slightly more complicated to answer.

You can get by with 40 AB, but that would be absolute minimum IMO unless you have HiPS and/or Expose Weakness. Shooting for 45 would be a good goal, but having at least 40 should be acceptable in game, especially with a party. Should be relatively easy to get to even without epic gear or a PB.

BAB: 26 + 6 (STR or DEX) + 3 (EB) = 35 without Weapon Focus, Epic Prowess or any other AB enhancing feats and with pretty darn low main attack stat. So even if you take a couple dips in medium BAB classes you should not have issue getting over 40. Remember there are potions of (greater) heroism available as well, to use when needed. In some area's 40 isn't going to cut it well enough to be happy with your performance, but in most area's it'll do.

Yeah, sorry, didn't think that through when I wrote it.

I meant AB, including weapon bonuses, feats, etc.

Right now, I figure my character is sitting at 35 AB at level 30 with unenchanted equipment.
37 if you count bane of enemies.

That should be fine. You'll have HiPS so outdoors you can use that. 39/41 if you have +4 EB weapons. I fail to see how you are ending up so low as a 21+ level ranger, but assuming you have Epic Prowess/Expose Weakness you should do ok inside where HiPS isn't an option. Don't forget Ranger spells such as Aid and Cats Grace (if dex based), which will also help your AB.

I think 40 AB is considered the minimum. At least that's the idea that has been floating for a few years when it comes to general build advice.

I myself try to get a minimum of 35-40 BAB on my melee characters.

By being dumb and trying to make a Dual Wielding 2 hander build I know, I know, terribly terrible idea.....but....Dual Wielding 2 handers.....

Two two-handed weapons used with two-weapon fighting... Isn't that like -6 AB?

You could bring it down to -4 if you get that custom Oversized Two-weapon Fighting feat.

Worth noting that dual wielding 2-handers looks super glitchy to everyone except the person playing the wielder.
