Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Hi everyone – It has been over two years since I set foot in BGTSCC, but now I’m thinking of returning and have a couple of question for any kind soul who care to answer. I've come to realise there really aren't many other games like this (if any), a persistent world with heavy RP.

I recognise much of this information exist somewhere on these forums, but given the huge amount of content here, it’s a bit overwhelming finding it, but more than happy with just links to other threads or sites!

1. I’m having trouble downloading the latest files automatically, and I went to http://game.bgtscc.net/staged/ - is there a way to download all these at the same time? Do these all go in the hak folder?
2. How is the health of the server these days compared to two years ago? Quite difficult to judge player numbers during holiday season
3. What is the best place to refresh my memory about the lore setting of the world?
4. What are the recent events / plots on the servers I should be aware of?
5. Are there any major changes in server rules I should be aware of?
6. Are there any big mechanical changes? Ie I saw a brief comment about a CL fix and something about expose weakness?
7. If I decide to RCR one of my old characters (only level 8 or so!), can one also keep some of the items, or is that not allowed?
8. Walking vs running – I was always confused on this, what is the proper etiquette?

1. Afraid I don't think you can auto download all of them, but there are download managers that can help
2. Haven and BG frequently trade player numbers, but during primetime it ranges from 40-max server.
3. DM rumor threads, DM event threads and such for server lore; the various Volo's guides; FRCS 2.0 for historical and divine info, FRCS 3.5 for "law of the universe sans re: divines" info
4. Afraid I've been avoiding most major public events of late so I cannot comment.
5. RCRing below level 10 is free, afterwards it's a continuous decrease to 50% at level 20. We now have "helmet hairs" available IG to change your appearance on the fly. EW got changed and fixed. Practiced spellcaster bug got fixed. CL bug got fixed. We now have dynamic spawns which, if you have my luck, will screw you over. But chances of that are 0.23% chance * boss probability.

7. Allowed. In fact, we have an IC muling system. For one, we have packhorses/mules/Whathaveyou whose inventory persist over their death. For two, we have IC storage. For IC storage, use diguise system and change your char's name to something without punctuation marks and spaces to ensure it doesn't bug out and eat your items. You can freely store and mule items using disguise tool and this IC storage. You can also still use campfires and friends.
8. My stance is: walk when there's someone you can RP with or if you're not running on limited time to play; run if you need to get somewhere faster and there's nobody around to interact with. Since we now have packhorses, I suppose you can RP riding it?

I've downloaded all the files, and I placed all .hak files in /hak, all .tlk in /tlk and the remaining ones in modules\Baldurs Gate TSCC. However, I still get an error that prevents me from entering the server.

A pop-up says "An error has occurred that prevents you from proceeding. Please refer to the error message above the loading bar", and in the loading bar in says:

Extracting to C:\Users\MyName\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\bg_S1.tlk
bg_S1.tlk was downloaded successfully, but it can't be verified. Please contact the server administrator at [email protected]

Anyone that know what to do?
