Question about Choice of Weapon

Unread post by Ice955 »

Hi!

Playing a FS character with the following feats:
-Weapon Focus Warhammer
-Weapon Specialization Warhammer

So... Got for the first time to the Hell shop and need some help in deciding the right weapon for me >_>

Was no good warhammers here... But i found a weapon(Morningstar) called "Dawnstar".

Dawnstar properties:

Dmg bonus Electric 1
Dmg bonus Positive Energy 1d4
EB+4

I will get GMW+5 and Weapon of Impact so these are the factors to take into account. EB is not important for the weapon in other words. My question is: Is it worth taking the Morningstar as weapon?

Negatives:
Looses the benefits of:

Weapon Focus Warhammer
Weapon Specialization Warhammer
Morningstar has x2 instead of x3 in critical range... (One dice less for the roll)

Warhammers are hard to get by... The morningstar is expensive but could afford it just barely... The positive Dmg passes most defenses so thats a +... But do you guys think its best to wait for a good warhammer to show up or to take the morningstar? :P

Warhammer and they do turn up.
Life is far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about it

Take that one with the mas.critical. You have more than enough extra damage from your spells.

It's not worth paying the asking price for that morningstar. You gain +2-5 damage per hit and lose +1 to hit and +2 damage. So your net gain is -1 to hit and +0-3 damage (and some of that damage can be resisted, even), and you also have a weaker crit multiplier to boot.

Either grab the maul of the titans off the hell shop or advertise that you're looking for warhammers with decent bonus damage on them, imo.
