Background:

Born Tommen Silverblade, the fourth child, third son, of the noble, Athkatla-based, merchant-rich House Silverblade. The birth of a silver-haired child, quickly evolved into a widely gossiped, if minor, scandal for Azuriel's parents. Within the walls of the Silverblade estate, it was the spark that started a long-lasting conflict between Azuriel's parents. Whether this was due to his father's mistrust as to the paternal heritage of the child, or a fundamental disagreement on the wellfare of the children - Azuriel grew up with both him and his entire family aware that he was the root of this conflict.

Azuriel nonetheless grew up under better circumstances than the majority of Amnians, enjoying the quality teachers and instructors only the children of nobility have access to. Furthermore, his father and two older brothers tolerated him and his sister and mother provided for his emotional needs.

From an early age, Azuriel was obviously unsuited for the cutthroat, cynical sphere that Athkatlian high society constituted. In fact, simple skills such as bartering soundly was for some reason completely beyond him. An inherent knack for justice, fairness and honesty - meant that he unknowingly became a bit of a laughing matter among his peers - when he would fall for the most obvious ruses and lies.

In order for Azuriel to have a path in life - given both him being a third son and the fact that he was unsuited for the family business, his mother arranged for him to squire for Sir Palaven Dondost, a Knight and Paladin of the Church of Lathander - his mother's deity. This turned out to be a blessing for Azuriel, and he quickly proved to be gifted in the ways of the holy warrior. Amongst the Lathanderite ranks, he was also suddenly no longer a freak in the slightest manner. The silver hair, was soon discovered to be a mark of his celestial heritage, although no explanation as to how this had manifested itself was discovered alongside the fact. The rumours of his mother's extramarital affairs was still the only clue.

In an attempt to embrace his celestial heritage and to distance himself from his father, he took a new name upon swearing his oath and ascending into the ranks of Paladins; Azuriel.

Azuriel's first major undertaking as a Paladin, occurred when he accompanied Palaven and a group of Paladins and Dawnbringers of Lathander on a quest to the Nelanther Isles. Here, a growing darkness was spreading and undead were rising in large numbers on the Island of Ioma. Which had resulted in ships encountered by the Amnian navy, with animated corpses the only passengers. Azuriel only played a small part, but the quest ended when the mastermind behind the whole affair, the Vampire Dresken, was slain by the band of Lathanderites.

Shortly after returning to Athkatla, Palaven left for Baldur's Gate after receiving a personal letter. When sometime after, tidings of Palaven's murder at the hands of unknown assailants reached the Church of Lathander in Athkatla - Azuriel immediately sought permission to travel to Baldur's Gate and find out what had befallen his old mentor. This permission was granted.

Goals:
Azuriel's main goal, is to find the truth behind Palaven Dondrost's death - and to avenge it.
Aside from this, Azuriel is sworn to spread the word of the morning lord, by word and holy mace both.
