Area Cleanup script

Unread post by niapet »

I have noticed junk lying around everywhere I go. Is there an area cleanup script? If not I believe i have an area cleanup stored somewhere that is meant to be attached to entry and exit points to sweep up all the junk players leave behind. I remember it helping a lot with lag back in the day.

These things have been talked about in the past. As it is, there hasn't been any noticeable lag from garbage on the ground so it's a non-issue. It might increase server load running through all objects in an area to find the garbage every time an area is left empty as opposed to just leaving the stuff where it is.

I looks awful if all is cluttered with lootbags, please pick up your trash :D

Dump it into the next chest or make a campfire. Thanks.

I'm fairly certain the game is sending the info for where everything is to every client. It does lag the server, I am sure of it (how much is surely up for debate). I have run software that keeps track of packets and seen it go up with testers putting more and more junk down. But if nothing else, most people are not going to clean up after themselves or others. I try to when I see it but I'm pretty weak =P. I never see anyone else ever cleaning up junk on the ground =/

blame the area bosses.. they are always dropping their dirty dishes (empty ale stien, spoon) and dirty clothes (rags) all over the place.

its not my job to pick up after them. im there to beat em up.

there is suppose to be a clean up script unless it was turned off, but last i talked to luna about it, it doesnt fire unless that area has been empty for x amount of time

Cleanup script does currently work. It only removed items actually dropped to the ground by a player or NPC. It does not clear away loot bags, etc.

You can notice it at work in the Minotaur Maze cuz it will clear away horns that the minos drop on the ground directly if you don't pick them up after ~5 minutes or so.
