Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Lelande advertises a kama and a pair of boots for auction in Baldur's Gate. He can often be found standing next to his posted advertisement.

The kama is powerfully and uniquely enchanted, able to daze opponents on rare occasions.

The pair of boots seems enchanted to enhance one's mind, both increasing insight and providing protection against the Feeblemind spell.

Lelande starts the bidding for these boots at fifty trade bars.

Moire steps up, and offers 75 bags for the boots.

Lelande blinks as he recognizes the owner of one of the largest importing businesses on the Sword Coast. It occurs to Lelande that his own import business is so small that Moire may or may not even know him. But his only response is to nod and say, "Offer acknowledged."

A silver haired woman, clad in unremarkable looking plate armor and bearing a symbol of Torm about her neck approaches. She bows respectfully to Moire before addressing Lelande.

"I offer one hundred and fifty bags for those same boots." She hesitates a moment, before belatedly adding "I am Natali, if you require a note for your records."

Lelande nods to Natali, acknowledging her bid.

Since it has been Moire's (lucrative) job to know merchants back in Marsember, and she has always been informed and updated on the schematics of the smuggling industry there in order to rarily miss a good transaction, she made case out of it to keep up that feat in this region as well.

Here, she didn't have any real agents at her disposal yet, but there were a few 'informants' she could always consult. Not that she really called it that way, but when using such channels of intelligence, she was always as prudent as possible in managing such conversations.

Meeting up with Lelande was no coincidence at all, and frankly, she wasn't as interested in those boots as she was in this fellow merchant... this fellow merchant negotiator. The boots were just a way to hook up.

The Sun elf glanced at the other bidder, and decided to stick a moment longer after she read Lelande's expression as he acknowledged her. She assumed he perhaps assumed she wouldn't know him, but she assumed he at least knew her, even if just from her regular trades.

Without looking at the silver haired lady Natali, but clearly addressing her, the Sun elf -assuming Natali didn't know her (yet)- said," I probably could double the offer for these boots, but that would likely leave you empty-handed while this is a fine purchase. Instead -I- offer 150 bags for this pair of boots the fine gentleman is selling here, and you get 20 bags... and grant me this purchase."

Moire then slowly turned her head to look at Natali, her emerald eyes sparkling with intelligence, but for the rest there were no feelings nor expressions whatsoever floating across her features like reflections would on a still pool...

"...Interesting."

Lelande also looks at Natali, seeing what her response is.

(( sorry, I adjusted Moire's reaction a little since thanks to a 'poke'... making me remember that Moire knows her. IC my toon would remember such and thus act slightly differently. ))

Natali considers the unusual offer with seeming grave concern, silver eyes meeting emerald for a moment, the young paladin trying to discern intent. Eventually, she concedes with a nod

"If you desire them that badly, you are right. I would be walking away empty-handed. I accept your offer, but request you donate the gold to the temple of Torm instead. Let it be put to worthy use."

Lelande nods at Leo. "I did not have these boots when we last spoke. These boots are a recent acquisition. Your bid is acknowledged."

The Sun elf too acknowledged the new bidder, and looked at him directly.

"One hundred and eighty bags..."

"... two hundred and ten... "
