Counterspelling Update

Hello,
There have been a number of different posts saying parts of Counterspelling is working, some not, some alternative spells working, some not.

The BGTSCC Wiki should be the final source for current implementation or not, but...the statements on the Wiki run counter to what has been posted on this Forum in the (recent) past.

So! Let's begin again...:

Is Counterspelling being worked on?

In detail:

- Is Reactive Counterspelling working?
- Is Duelward spell working (it says yes on the Reactive page above, but...). Can anyone give a clearer description of its application, like, do you need to have Counterspelling clicked/active for Duelward to work, or does Duelward act like in the manner of a Spell Mantle?
- Mastery of Counterspelling and Spell Turning ?? Need I say more?!? 0:)

I'll try to take a look at it this weekend.

Would be helpful if folks could gather some test results.
Its a pretty complicated mechanic.

I know that mrm3ntalist had made some recent tests. Since he is QC and can whip up a build for testing at anytime and any Level, I think it would be good to get his knowledge downloaded to your hard drive! 8-)

And truly, THANK YOU for looking into this mechanic. I think a lot of us have been hoping to put it to full use.

mrm3ntalist's tests indicate that the feature is working correctly.
Nonetheless I've made a few changes,
- Reactive Counterspelling: Tweaks to logic that determines whether to counter an area targeted spell, or not.
- Counterspelling refactoring: Minor performance improvement by using switch statements.
- Recompiled the spellhook counterspell code.
Reactive Counterspelling working or not depends on a lot of factors. The best way to test it is to make sure you have lots of dispels ready, of varying levels. The system chooses the spell with the best chance of countering it. And tries to avoid wasting higher level spells. Etc..

When spells are targeted at an area instead of a creature it also has to guess whether or you'll be hit. It should do a litter better after the next update.

Spell turning works. I'm not sure if its available in game. It might be (high arcana I think).

Wow. Awesome.

Mastery of Counterspelling (spell turning) has, over the last year, appeared and disappeared from the Wiki, and unfortunately, the BGTSCC custom JEGs is not always capable of replicating what is actually on the Server.

Someone with direct access to the MAIN VEIN would have to help prove its existence or not. Yes, I do remember that originally Mastery of Counterspelling was an Arch Mage feat...but now??

However, back in 2016, one could find the Feat listed in JEGs (I just did some searching):
