Clarification about Mithral Armors

Unread post by Camera9 »

Hi guys,
can someone please explain to me why every kind of mithral armor gets a +1 bonus on its Base Armor Class except full plates, which doesn't?
Am I missing something?
Thanks!

Yes but... it doesn't really explain why armors get a +1 on base armor class. It only confirms that full plates are being discriminate. Just wondering why is that...

Chance? I have quite a few Mithral Armors with no AC enchantment at all, one Mithral Chainmail with +3, one Mithral chain shirt with, I think, +2, and I have seen Mithral Fullplates with +1 for sale...

They don't get a bonus AC.

Breastplate if 5 AC. Mithral Breastplate is 5 AC.

Chainshirt is 4 AC. Mithral Chainshirt is 4AC.

They get bonus DEX modifier.

Certain armour types, such as Chainmail and Hide, have seen an improvement on the server to make them semi-useful. This is not limited to Mithral and Full Plate was not improved as it was already widely used.

This server changed base AC on certain armour types (Half-plate, Splint, Banded, Scale, Chainmail) in an attempt to make them more appealing, increasing the base AC by +1.

Mithral armour only has bonus AC in the Dexterity Bonus section, being +2 across the board. One still must possess enough Dexterity bonus to take advantage of the extra, thus making only certain types appealing.

Mithral armor allows higher dexterity bonus, and that's why you can have higher AC while wearing mithral.

So all the armors have been pumped up, except Full Plates... I see.
I guess everyone is happy with that so there's no need to ask more.
Thanks to everyone :D

To be clear all armor has not been improved. Breast plate, chain shirt, leather, studded leather, and padded armor are all exactly the same as vanilla just like full plate. We improved the lesser armors to allow for variety.

Would be nice to have Mountain Plate though (or similar).

225lbs, 10AC, 0 max dex, 10ft move, and an ACP of 9
That sounds like a walking buldozer, could be a good idea for all those low DEX builds.

Mithral version would be 1 higher than MFP...

Well there doesn't need to be any mithral version.
