Word of warning: I'm completely serious. Also, no offense intended.
Can cooking be expanded a bit?
It is cool that a character can eat bats, wolves and I think bears... but it is disappointing that you can't cook kobolds, goblins, dragons, abberations., etc (Yes, I'm still serious)
Those can have higher DC and Alignment Penalties of course.
I think it could be interesting thing to consider. Basically, at the low levels cooked meat is surprisingly useful, but then you end up in situation when you run out of harvestable creatures.
Expanding cooking - more harvestable creatures?

Damn, you'll make me redo the system at this rate. I took it from the vault and adding new options is a pain.
Either way .. humanoid beings ? I worry about people doing it to get the meat and free lesser vigor potions without considering the RP aspects of what they did, ie close to cannibalism (or cannibalism even as some orc players would surely be happy to eat humans
).

Well, the reason why I brought it up is because I rolled a ranger, accidentally ended up in underdark with no money and gear, spent time running around eating bats and realized how much I dig the mechanic.Valefort wrote:Damn, you'll make me redo the system at this rate. It is seriously cool and I love it.
I personally wouldn't mind, but the reason why I didn't mention orcs/dwarves/elves/hins/gnomes as potential items of menu is because I thought it might push things a bit too far into squicky territory for some people.Valefort wrote: Either way .. humanoid beings ?

It's fine if people RP t ! It's not fine if people do it to profit from the mechanic and ignore the RP. Perhaps I'm too cautious but I think the temptation would be too much.

Lesser vigor stops being incredibly useful past first levels. Also, getting an ACTUAL item from a monster is cooler than when monsters just just vanish into thin air like they usuaully do.Valefort wrote:It's fine if people RP t ! Basically, I'm not seeing much of a temptation. If anything it offers a way to have cooking related crafting systems and it is not incredibly difficult to implement either.
There's already "mostly RP" food, remember? Cheese blocks, some sort of water drink, aloe leaves, etc. You can also up cooking DC a little.
So, I don't see any disadvantages.

It is possible to slap alignment shift on it too, when appropriate.Valefort wrote:It's fine if people RP t ! It's not fine if people do it to profit from the mechanic and ignore the RP.
Also... the point of evil that it is tempting. So, I supose someone would need to put a bit of effort in staying good when there are so many tasty looking elves running around.
