Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

I've read the PVP rules but this doesn't seem to be addressed, or I simply missed it.

I was running through Beregost and out of the blue somebody sneak attacked me and brought me down to negative HP. I wasn't actually killed so I don't think I lost anything (even though they said they were stealing my gold through a tell). There was no RP before this.

Is this a valid attack? I probably wouldn't mention this at all, except with the recent events I don't know if this was an attempt at griefing or not.

Screenshotted the event, but without knowing if it was rules-legal I'm not going to name names.

Send the screen shots to the DMs. There's a hacker active, and this sounds like said hacker.

But to answer your question, this was not valid PvP. Hostilities must be RPd before actually being allowed to attack. And even then, you're supposed to give an RP out, giving the other a chance to escape.

Attacking inside a city without dm supervision is also ilegal.

Also, RP out does not mean "Do as my character tells you to or suffer my PvP wrath".

I've had players simply say to me "Leave", and when I said no, they considered this consent as the "Leave" was the RP 'out', in their mind and attacked me. It did not go well for them, and they were defeated, but then they told me through tells that I was being 'rude' as they were in that particular area first. This is no way follows PvP guidelines, but I did not report it as it minor IMO, still have the screenshots though.

People need to be respectful, 'Out' in no way means you have to RP running to the hills or anything else is 'consent'.

I am under the impression some people come to this server thinking its a PvP server with RP encouragement, when in fact it is a medium RP server that permits PvP. There is a difference.

The issue was quickly resolved. It was apparently an instance of OOC greifing with an attempt to frame an innocent player for the deed. I thought it may have been as much, which is why I was shy on details in an open forum.

This thread can be locked whenever the moderators feel like it.
