Brood Mother Basilisk - Petrifaction gaze?

In the tarpits, is it intended that the Brood Mother Basilisk is able to use Petrifaction gaze?

Yes.
Some players said the area was too easy, while others liked the 'no petrification' change. So I compromised. The Brood Mother is the only Basilisk that has Petrification. She's a boss type, so she's somewhat stronger... But her spawn location is...

Just checked...sees invis as well.. Well, that just made UD much more annoying as it is. There goes half of the population of UD...

Imagine that...the underdark, dangerous again.
Though I suppose potions to protect against the gaze should be made available (at a considerable cost) from the potion merchant. If there was a way to profit from it, the drow would certainly jump at the chance.

Just checked, there's no scrolls and potions for the following spells in UD:
Create Undead
Lesser Restoration
Protection from Petrification
Restoration
And probably more. Let me know if I missed it and there's actually a UD merchant selling those. Would love to purchase them.

I am guessing inquiring about these scrolls from the surface (much larger population) would be a good roleplay reason to be on the surface?
