Do you think that tieflings could do this with their tails?

No. Server rules say they cannot control it. Now if you add loops for it maybe.

False.

Server rules do not say that.
Tiefling Tails
Tieflings can roleplay having non-prehensile tails if they choose. You must contact the admin if you would like one added to the character model.

What rules do say is that you can't hold stuff with your tail. Meaning no triple weapon fighting for your tiefling.

Think of a cat tail, pretty much. They can control their tails. They can't hold a knife with it.

And even if they couldn't control it, you could always bind it around your waist like a belt if it was long enough...

Precisely what I suggested.

Pedantic arguments aside cats tails move subconciously almost always. If the DM's rule that we can hold tails around our waists as belts then that suggests enough control to use the tail for other purposes. Possibly RPed mechanical advantage.

(Stupid autocorrect turned "now" into "not")

I'm not talking about using the tail as if it were an arm, especially one with a primate hand attached to the end of it. Don't you guys get silly, now. :P

I mean only the capacity to wrap the tail around things, including, for purposes of disguise, one's waist. I'm curious because one of my characters is a tiefling. Even though she doesn't have a tail, it got me thinking.

If they have enough control over their tail I don't see why not.

Though it might be easier to just remove the tail with the sign (at least when it's working) to facilitate the effect.

Why not?

Long(er) answer: As long as you don’t treat it as a third hand I don’t have a problem with it.

But can you treat it as a third leg?

Tripods ftw!

I believe 'non-prehensile' is the key word, meaning it cannot be used to grab or manipulate objects.

Example of prehensile appendages are things like monkey/opossum tails and elephant trunks. They can grab, lift, hold etc.

Non-prehensile appendages are things like cat/dog/horse/cow tails. Still under (subconscious?) control of their respective owners, but entirely unable to manipulate objects (besides simply knocking things over - anyone who has ever had a whippet or greyhound would know what I mean!)

Labrador Retrievers, man. They're perfect coffee table height. Also, for the record, Great Danes are totally crotch height. I've seen a grown man cry because of a Dane happy to see him.
