Oi everyone,

Most basic information about tieflings in Faerun. Describing some things of which many around seem to forget, don't know or simply ignore. Source is the official WoTC supplement for Faerun campaigns "Races of Faerun". Underlines dedicated to DiceyCZ.

It is rather plainly stated that Faerunian tieflings ARE TAINTED by their EVIL heritage (in blood and soul), and although not restricted to evil alignment, have to struggle with their nature when trying to be good.

Less strong indications and details here, thus more space for interpretation. While obviously inclined towards good and extraordinary beings, Aasimars seems to be less bound by their heritage overall. I would say perhaps its because of their good nature not forcing it as much as evil one does on tieflings. Similarly to the latter Aasimars can be frowned upon and shunned. Even if reactions are less severe in general its good to remember that.

Cheers!

P.S.
Wasn't sure where to put it, so it lands here. Sorry if its not the right place.

Per request I'm adding Aasimar.

Also pardon me my poor english.

The part about weird urges seems to contradict other sources somewhat.

Here's what I have.

Monster manual:

Planar Handbook:

------

Looks like FR supplement wants tieflings to be more evil and disturbing than planar handbook, though.

As for persecution, bring it on.

Just for the sake of inclusion of relevant sources, Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting handbook says the following:
Tieflings - FRCS, p. 20 wrote:"Because they are descended from evil outsiders, those who know of their ancestry immediately consider most tieflings evil and untrustworthy. Not all tieflings are evil or untrustworthy, but enough are that the prejudice tends to cling. Some tieflings have a minor physical trait suggesting their heritage, such as pointed teeth, red eyes, small horns, the order of brimstone, cloven feet, or just an unnatural aura of wrongness. Those descended from an infernal minion of A Faerûnian deity often carry a birthmark of the deity's holy symbol or another trait related to that evil faith."
Races of Faerun probably provides a more specific/updated supplement to the original FRCS, though the FRCS does seem to lean more toward prejudice versus inherent as far as their determined nature is concerned.

Sources you point are general DnD books, not aimed for Faerun specifically, unlike "Races of Faerun". "Lex specialis derogat legi generali” as was used with recent height changes on the server (with elves being visibly smaller/shorter in core/general books).
