death penalty at 30

so I was zip-zopping around on my 30 cleric blip bloop and was in some situations then I realized how I didn't care if I died and what was the point of the healing supplies so then I thought how if you died at 30 you can incur gold penalties, perhaps a percent up to a max limit. Perhaps a 10k max? It would make 30 deaths slightly less meaningless in PvE and encourage groups. Is it too big a potential headache for the DMs that love killing people?

It will just result in some level 30 muling the gold to lower level character.

Some is a key word there.
Edit: To add
some already call their friend to raise them when then die at XP lose.

If think something like losing 10...50% of gold up to 500k on death would be good.
We don't have banks in bgtscc, after all.

This is metagaming and should be reported.... but you know that already.

It would be nifty but I think going too far. My 10k quote was to cover the failure to use healing supplies and that sessions grind gold. I already think 10k might be too much for some people but hopefully the non-grinders find groups.

Well, it could be that if you die at 30, you lose an entire Level, back to 29.
Considering how much players bitch about leveling in Epics, that alone might put the fear of god into players, and stop dumb "immortal" actions.

My idea was more along the lines of "Your enemies looted your corpse and stole your money". There's no reason to expect honor from monsters, right?
That's why it is a percentage. If your level 30 has 10k total it will be 1k..5k loss. If you were carrying a million of gold with you into dungeon though...

Also a nifty idea and in-line with a server I used to love, but not suiting for here me thinks. I mean this server is medium everything, neither rare nor well done.
But seriously the idea is not to disrupt what already exists just make it a little less meaningless, but yall are free to post suggestions; shoot for the moon.

The only other options are equipment loss and chance of permadeath, but on bgtscc it'll be downright evil. Losing gold should be okay.

i don't feel we should use mechanics to enforce rp in this situation
we, as players, know what is or isn't lost, upon death, but our characters do not
not that suicidal behavior is necessarily bad....if the character is indeed suicidal

we can agree to disagree
i've yet to run a lvl 30 character into an open dragon's maw

FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS!
What the player knowns = / = What the PC knows.
You know your PC will be resurrected OOCly no matter what happens.
Your PC doesn't know this.
Who makes decisions? Your PC.
It could be hypothetically possible to call suicidal level 30/post-level up behaviour metagaming, and thus rule breaking.

So the penalty 1-29 should be taken away because it enforces RP. Alright guess I had things backwards.
