Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Currently at level 14 and having no problem with viscous wolves at northern tradeway and ants in the ant lair, getting about 20-30 xp a pop. I generally take them out with reserve feats and they don't pose much of a threat. The plague zombie and gnoll warrior in the forest of wyrms and reaching woods each provided less than 20 xp despite being so much harder. I barely survived my encounter with just one of the latter creatures and used numerous missle storms to kill them. Not sure which set of monsters needs CR adjustment but this is so odd.

I believe you get tagged with an xp penalty if you try to fight in areas very far above your level. Reaching Woods and the Forest of Wyrms are both epic level areas, so it would make sense that you get low xp.

Presumably it is set up this way to prevent a high level character just carrying a low level one through areas they don't belong in.

Yeah, they're 9 levels over your CR.

And I think you can only get 50 experience per kill for non-boss monsters. That is abut 51~ when in a party... I guess to get as much as experience as possible, you should try to keep the area CR (if mentioned) below your character level.

pretty sure best xp comes at cr 1 or two above your level iirc.

You should feel bad ass, taking on reaching woods at level 14 is hard core.
