Epic Gear Revision

Hi all. I know I'm fairly new but I've noticed that some of the epic gear available really steps on some class toes. Like 40 SR armor kind of invalidated bards and clerics most powerful abilities, not to mention Drow get a +2 CR and not for the least of which is their SR.
Things like that should be curbed.. they should exist but should not exceed half the power max a class can do.. If a bard song counter-spell maxes at 40 SR,as does monk, then 20 SR should be max on gear for example.
I'm sure there are plenty of other examples but I cant think of them off the top of my head.

While I am a huge fan of a good quip, I figured I would let you know that the highest SR item you can purchase is SR32 (a cloak with no other enchantments on it)...Hardly competing with any racial ability or spell. I have heard stories of SR34 or 36 items, but never seen one myself so I cannot attest to if they are real or myth.

i WAS ATTACKED BY A LEVEL 13 CHARACTER YESTERDAY WITH sr39 gear. It has to be item because SR does not stack.
PS SR 32 is till too much when a level 1 character can wear it.

100% agree.. EVERY player Ive talked to agrees but it wont happen because they have said as much in another thread. There is not much of a choice in servers these days and this on is quite nice. If there were another normal, Forgotten realms or dragonlance server that had lower magic or regular yearly wipes id play there. But this server is the best of the ones that exist.
PS That is not meant to be a jab...might sound mean in text. I just mean its hard for people that haven't been here for a decade. Back when I used to play i never saw a serious RP severer that allowed muling and twinking like this one does.

Spell Resistance wards (Cleric, Spirit Shaman, Druid) likely the culprit.
It definitely does NOT need to be an item, as high CL SS (with Blood Magic, for instance) can get in excess of 45 SR. If the character was actually lvl 13, he/she could have been buffed by a higher level one, since the ward is rather long-lasting (1 min/lvl, can be Extended).
DMs don't do such things for their friends on BGTSCC: these things are very carefully monitored. Also, such insinuations are rather offensive, and are best avoided.

This comes across as a tad elitist, and it's probably the result of misinformation.
The introduction of the Epic Shops has pretty much leveled the playing field in this regard.
Happy RPing.

And you know this SR 39 was from an item? unlikely since all SR items are either 14, 20, 28, 32 (even numbers)... If you believe unfair play is involved you do not post to the forum, you send a PM, with screenshots and logs to the DM Team. Declarations of favoritism are likely inaccurate and certainly do you no good. As Invoker said it is not so difficult to get a higher level PC to toss you a ward or 6...

Level 1 characters do not often have 100,000 gold with which to acquire such a cloak... If someone wants to mule gear there is no good way to stop it without some pretty significant effort so it is allowed. *shrug* As you level and adventure you earn gold, some say too quickly others say too slowly... In any case, the epic shops are there to give you something to spend said gold on.

The SR40 item was a cloak given to Exordius after a special dm quest. It has since changed hands many times between various people for obscene amounts of gold and trades.

That is my exact point. NEW level 1 characters don't have that gold but the old players do... they can buy everything they want with impunity and be epic at level 5... Mulling is very preventable, many servers prevent it. Hell a simple no muleing rule and a % reward for people that turn in cheaters would do it...

When I started from scratch, one of the first things worth keeping on my Ranger character was a Mirrored Chain Shirt, +3 AC and 24 Spell Resistance.
Then when I grinded a Barbarian character to level 25 for Epic Rage feat, during the 100% RCR period, I ended up earning gold. Gold with very little to do since Avernus Merchant was still in Avernus, or not in the server, which meant that I spent that gold buying things like Shimmering Cloaks and what not from the consingment store to my other characters. Thus I have bunch of level 8~ characters that are pretty much just sitting on their end game equipment already...

Yeah, I have played on those servers. Be buddies with DMs, you are allowed to mule with impunity. It just creates an environment of don't ask, don't tell. You will get banned off the server if you catch a DM buddy or a DM itself muling equipment. Then others will just use work-a-rounds like chain trading, where two players just 'trade' items between their own characters. Muling is not preventable.
And here on BGTSCC, you just need to grind for a bit of gold, and then you can use the in game Consingment Store to mule items between your own characters. You just charge yourself for slightly more than what the items are worth, and no one will buy them.
As for the Cloak of Shimmering, it costs about 100k, which a level 10~ character can afford if leveled up in chest filled areas.
So don't be jealous, see the effort yourself, and you too can have the 'epic' equipment on your lowbie character.

I think this sums up this thread in one short quote! +1000 on this.
