SB/WM Build Ideas

Hi folks,

I want to re-roll my hin's classes. He's CN, and I want to have a build that has at least 14 Swashbuckler and 7 Weapon Master.

Assassin levels seems the easiest, but means HIPS is a long ways off. SD route with another class can get me there quicker, but it's tough to have enough stealth skills this way. I've also considered something like IB and DC levels together.

Any recommendations for this server? Thanks :)

i run a PTWF SB11/Due7/Temp5/WM7 and love it. i do not have EW but it doesnt matter. this is a really good blend of Dmg, AC, skills and AB. the one flaw is will saves are low.

What about SB 19/WM7/F 4 ? It has everything you need imo. One weapon and shield, otherwise SB 15/ wm7 / F8, van cet epic weapon focus and gets more feats for a twf build.

SB16/D7/WM7 is a good mix. Gets Evasion/Expose Weakness, Weakening Critical plus WM Ki Critical to improve thread range and land it more often with extra damage from Duelist and SB abilities. Only thing it really misses out on is Wounding Critical. Duelist helps by granting INT to AC and Parry for +5 Deflection. Great Synergy to make a mid INT/DEX char (20+ in both instead of maxing one or the other). I would likely go for modified INT of 24 for +7 AC, +14 damage and rest in DEX for AC/AB.

SB14/WM7/A9 is another option. Instead of Duelist goodies you get HiPS, Death Attack and Assassin spells. Still gets Weakening Crit, but misses out on evasion/expose weakness. However, since SB get's Epic Precision you get some damage from Sneak dice against crit immunes. Any stealth build is more skill point intensive and this one will basically require Able Learner while also being a really late bloomer, but will be quite strong dual wielding kukri's. Also, HiPS and UMD will help protect you from those poor Will saves. EDIT: Actually could drop WM to 5 which would allow SB16 for evasion/EW.. That would be a better split: SB16/WM5/A9.

http://nwn2db.com/build/?285350 <= A Swashbuckler 20/Shadowdancer 3/Weapon Master 7.

Have that Belt of Growth for +3 STR and CON.

Put on a Heavy Shield if you need the AC.

You could swap the the two last feats for Great Intelligence I and II.

None of those classes grant shield proficiency (unless you took a feat...)

Yup, took the proficiency. (Honestly, it is worth it.)

I decided to ditch WM. I had first thought to max the use of Weakening Crit with the WM crit range, but now I've decided to stick with my original 1 hand weapon concept. So I'm going to go with the ol' SB/FB/Duel/SD combo.

I'll post a build link shortly, but with these classes, I could use some opinions on how to finish off the class levels. I'll need at least 7 SB, 5 FB, 6 Duel, and 3 SD.

I THINK Epic Precision will be important for this guy. It ensures Combat Insight/Insightful Strike apply to crit immunes, right? If that is the case, I'd imagine 12 SB/5 FB/10 Duel/3 SD would be optimal.

Thanks for the final thoughts!

"Power Attack does not add bonus damage to a light weapon (except with unarmed strikes or natural weapon attacks)" from the NWN2 wiki.

That would only leave Rapier as option. That is if the wiki is right and doesnt mean finessable weapons instead of light weapons....

Hm well I thought I had read that a hin could get the benefit of PA with a short sword because of the size difference. I could be wrong (and often am!).

Here's the proposed build. There is a little bit of feat flexibility, and I'm considering One Weapon in the build (but not available in builder).

I would drop Epic Deflection to get OneHander.

Not sure if Able Learner is needed... If not you can get ArmorSkin or Deadly Defense.

Wait ... forget Deadly Defens you have FB to fight with IPA!

But why is CE in the build then? needed for a PrC?

CE is in there for Combat Insight prereq.

Halflings are small, and therefore 'small' sized weapons can be used with Power Attack. Just like how humans that are medium, can use 'medium' sized weapons with Power Attack. What makes NWN2 a little bit glitchy, is the fact that the list of Weapon Finesse weapons is hard coded, and therefore you can have a dexterity based power-attacking halfling or gnome.

I would actually take Expose Weakness prior to Combat Insight. I just feel that the AC debuff from Expose Weakness will be more beneficial to your character. Improved Power Attack already gives you that +20 damage. I would also consider switching your Epic Deflection to Great Dexterity, as that allows you to make use of +'Stealth' items better. Many great epic stealth items have that +3 dexterity. For example some boots traded for 3,000,000 gold pieces had: +4 Dodge, +3 Move Silently & Hide, + 3 Dexterity.

I would also push the three last Duelist levels to be taken last.
