Necromancer thaumaturge

Hello there. I was looking to create a cleric/ thaumaturge specialized in necromancy and had some questions:
1. Does the planar cohort ability also work for a create undead or create greater undead?
2. I noticed the scaling on the death domain summon is terribly bad. Any idea if that is being worked on in the future( I want my evil shadow guy a little stronger

)
3. The hierophants ability to double negative energy damage. Will that also double the healing for my deadites? Or only for damaging the living.
Thanks! I am plotting some great RP and a fun (no really) cleric of Myrkul. I'm a little sad Velsharoon is not on this server. Thanks for the replies
edit: Also, would a cleric necro be better for a group of deadites or an arcane necro? I like the arcane buffs as well and perhaps feelthey might be better suited for buffed groups of clowns. Sadly though, I want the death domain and the thought of healing my guys my outweigh the possible buffs

AFAIK. Planar Cohort does not grant you permanent undead follower. Because necromancy is not conjuration.
However, as far as I know, thaumaturge feats that increase strength/duration of summons used to work on undead, which used to make CGU (Create Greater Undead) quite powerful. Meaning you'd get double duration and bonus to strength.
That is... unless this has been tweaked. Last time I used CGU thaumaturge has been some time ago, and since then there were changes in summoning system.

Hmmmm, thank you
Perhaps my necro will have some lower planar creature following him around to give him advice on how to be the master deadite handler then.
I thoroughly enjoy playing summoners even if their viability trails off in later levels, and wanted to try the necromantic aspects of it( that and the dread necromancer is my favorite 3.5 class)
I appreciate the response

Have you read any posts from Invoker about undead summoning in the past couple weeks? I assure you the viability of a summoner, especially a Necromancer/PaleMaster summoner does NOT trail off in later levels. It is a very powerful build which frankly needs to be brought down a few notches.

I have thaumaturge mage that works fairly well ( I am level 16 currently). Is the pale master summon impressive at higher levels? Does it take the cohort slot or does it use the regular summon slot?
I have not read the posts but I will look for them now. I wanted to go clerical necromancer for the religious aspect as well as the opportunity to heal my dead minions. Also, I might have a bit of fun getting tied up in melee with them as well.
Thanks for the suggestions on the posts I will read them. If you had to choose, would you go arcane or divine for your necromancer? I am curious. I tried a couple things in JEGS, but unfortunately summons don't work right there( anything with radial menu summons nothing)

Arcane casters do have access to the spell Negative Energy Burst, which can heal your undead a little. Obviously, the “inflict” line of divine spells gets it done, too, but Arcane casters can still play this game a little bit.

'Technically' yes, but in reality not. I wanted to hotlink where I discussed this in another thread but im only on mobile atm.
There is a current bug whereby single-target negative energy spells (eg. 1st level Negative Energy Ray) cannot target summons to heal them (although Hierophant blast infidel does double their healing). Only AoE negative energy spells can be used, currently, to heal undead. Mass Inflict Wounds for clerics & Negative Energy Burst for mages.

Yeah, heal kits work... You just keep your undead together with the bandages... To a point that after 10th or so healing kit... That zombie should be automatically upgraded into a mummy!

Heal kits work on undead? That's really amusing. Yeah I made a cleric and I think I will also be making an arcane caster as well. Probably pale master and ASOC. I think some of the archmage abilities could be amusing as well.
Wizard/Thaumaturge/Palemaster/Archmage? That sounds fun. Thanks for all the replies. I will have to start gathering some scrolls now for him.
