A Story's Beginning

At a young age, Flynn displayed a natural skill for both music and song. His charisma and wits allowed him to gain access to privileged information, and for the most part, kept him out of trouble. Easy on the eyes to look at and a flatterer of women, Flynn never failed to seize an opportunity to make a girl blush. Although, underneath all of his charm and flare was a good and noble heart. Flynn gladly protects his friends and will even sacrifice himself for those he trusts. However, it is this dedication to his friends and comrades that would lead him into a bloody and saddening experience.

To accompany Flynn's skill in music and song came an appetite for stories and tales. He would spend afternoons exchanging stories with friends or to anyone that would listen. Though, Flynn's favorite past-time was spending his nights at the local tavern and listening to the tales of the traveling bards. Flynn was fascinated at the way the bards could weave their stories with song and music. He aspired to learn this trade himself and it was in this tavern that his passion for learning this profession would become a reality.

Flynn entered the Tavern as he did almost every night for his fix of stories and tales told by the bards and minstrels. He sat down and gave a customary wink to the barmaid who smiled as she brought him some wine. Flynn took a sip and averted his glance towards the stage. His attention became focused on a bard who began to sing. Her features were perfect and her voice only enhanced her beauty. Her every word sounded as if an angel had plucked a string on a harp in faultless melody. Flynn became entranced by her to an almost hypnotic state. After the bard finished telling her tale, Flynn immediately approached her and asked to buy a drink. The bard started to say no, but saw the desire of a desperate young man and accepted the offer. The two shared tales while sipping wine and the bard saw a potential in young Flynn. Upon finishing their drinks the bard made Flynn an offer to take him under her wing and train him finer arts of story telling. Flynn without hesitation accepted her offer. His life as a bard had begun.

As the bard taught Flynn, his skill in music and song reached new levels. Flynn found his new music playing began to have a mystical and arcane characteristic. This at first terrified him, but the more he played the more this new arcane attribute seemed like a long lost friend. Of course music and story telling were not the only skills the bard taught Flynn. She tapped into his curiosity and desire to learn secrets. He did not openly question her motives when he was sent to obtain information. He felt bad having to break the law on occasion to accomplish his task, but he defended his actions as not stealing information, but rather borrowing, and besides, he trusted his mentor.

This was the happiest time in Flynn's life. Everything was in perfect harmony. Though, this changed one fateful night when Flynn's mentor approached him with a very distraught and worried look on her face. Flynn had never seen her this way and he too became worried for her. The only explanation he received is that she made a mistake with the wrong people. Flynn naturally asked if he could do anything to help his mentor. She turned to Flynn giving him and analytical look then a smile. There was something Flynn could do to help her. She gave him an address where Flynn would find and take series documents. Flynn promised that he would not fail and would save his mentor from harm.

Flynn arrived to his target address with the belief of an easy and quick, snatch and go mission. However, after he entered the house through the back window, he immediately knew something was wrong. A candle was lit and rising from a chair was an armed man with a very stern look.

"I take it she will not pay for my silence and will have someone silence me instead."

Flynn was too shocked to respond.

"After I have finished with you, I will deal with that harlot."

And with that the man drew his sword and lunged at Flynn. The man was clumsy and Flynn easily dodged his attack. Flynn recognized the man as a noble with considerate influence. He evaded the next few sword swings by the noble and in the confusion Flynn drew a weapon of his own. Flynn caught the noble in a downswing with a dagger to the chest. The noble's grip on his sword loosened and fell to the floor. He let forth screams of agony and at that moment guards came rushing throw the door. Flynn quickly escaped through the window and fled the scene. Still confused and now in a panic, Flynn returned to meet his mentor, but she was not there. He now became scared and terrified and hid to survive the night.

The next day Flynn observed his town in a chaos. His friends were questioned about his whereabouts and when they did not provide the answers they were brutally beaten. His family was questioned as well, but they too had no knowledge of Flynn's location and were accused of conspiracy and treason. Flynn watched in horror as his family was executed and he was too paralyzed with fear to help them. He fled with his heart having an amount of emotions that no song could embody. Upon leaving the town he found his mentor waiting for him.

"You did very well Flynn." She said it with a wide smile and a sinister look in her eyes.

"Silly me. There is one thing I forgot to teach you. In this profession, trust no one."
