Lets say im new and lost

Hello everybody!
A friend of mine have told me about this game, but he didnt explain to me how to download, the full name or anything else, and i canty talk with him right now because he is working.
He just gave me this site, but i also coulndt find this kind of information.
What should i do to play?
Please help a noob o/

Hello! welcome to the server and community, first thing first read and download the stuff from this thread

and do a quick read of the readme, the client extension helps you load in quicker and adds all kinds of features etc.
Next click multiplayer, you may need to login/create an account to connect to online services such as they are, I cant give you any advice here its been broken/discontinued so I have no idea how it works now.
To connect to the server and start the automatic downloading of server files you need to click join internet game then under the game type menu on the left click role play, for easier searching click players tab twice and it should arrange the menu to servers with most players at the top (you will usually find Baldurs gate server at the top) select the server then hit connect.
The files will start downloading almost like a steam workshop style at a certain point you can create a character while files continue to download but wont be till 75% of the files have downloaded or so, so you may be in for a bit of a wait. during this time I would recommend reading the rules etc and custom changes if you are familiar with the DnD settings and forgotten realm settings also so you can see whats different here.
Other things you may need to do is make sure you have generated a CD key for your game.
You may end up getting kicked upon trying to log in so you may need to get in contact with the admin team of the server for further help and advice.
I think that covers the basic first time entry stuff.

About the game, i've seem it is an extension.. to download the game itself i should pay for it or there is a way to download 4free?

Its available on steam or good old games. I think it's usually around $20 US, but occasionally goes on sale for 10 or less.
